Some chap was on LBC this afternoon stateing that we should all stop driving and live a more eco way.

He then admitted to having a £100k Tesla Model X and that he often drives to the South of France, Italy and the South West of the UK. Also he then went onto say he had several properties and a couple of businesses.

"Do as I say not as I do" Springs to mind.

I happened to be in London yesterday for an appointment. XR is full of a load of Middle Class, Eco Hippies who have no concept of the real world and they all had those disposable tents which you can never repack again and there was litter everywhere and they had driven a Van into the centre of town to hand cuff themselves too. Not very Eco friendly at all I would have thought.

It's not been on the news, so I haven't heard of it, which in this case is a good thing.

Media no longer report on thousands of protesters marching through London, so I doubt a dozen smelly hippies doing an interpretive dance in Bristol will get much attention.

They should let the working public deal with them much like when they had a go at shutting down a tube station.

They'd regret hand cuffing themselves to anything then.

I think they do what they do out of some weird guilt ,
Mind you won’t meet a more selfish self absorbed tosser than a wealthy lefty and this climate change stuff goes with it perfectly same mentality.

Hasn’t there been an interview with some daft bint ,one of the leaders bit of a car crash with her justifying owning a diesel car because she has to ferry her brood about !!
Needing a car to get about quickly and without getting wet is kind of what happens in the peoples republic of Stroud when the buses don't run much on Sundays, could of course move to somewhere more urban like say Gloucester where the buses do run on Sundays. TBH I'm surprised they haven't managed to get the Stroud district council to subsidise stagecoach to operate a full Sunday service. The town isn't that big so for someone committed walking from home to say school/shops/playing fields isn't that far and it's quite nice along the canal.

The crusties who were living under the M32 in Bristol in their caravans all painted in XR graffiti have moved on, leaving behind piles and piles of rubbish and a burnt out caravan for the Bristol tax payers to dispose of

Now that should be on the news! All channels, to show how XR treat the planet, or at least their little bit of it!

There was one in Leeds just up the road from my office. My office was next door to the Bewleys (now Clayton) hotel where some were staying - all these little student girls in their little yellow fancy dress/hotpants etc etc with their rollalong suitcases, all being paid for by mummy and daddy no doubt, and they were all out at night clubbing. It's just another festival week for them.

I totally and utterly despise XR and its cohorts in particular - either a load of anarchist crusties I'd gladly push off a cliff or hypocritical, preaching, middle-class bellends who haven't a fking clue.

What happened to that supercar meet group that used to meet up in London??

Disappointed by their lack of a peaceful demonstration - 10 yards down the street from the XR lot

They have moved on , probably driven to London or the West Country for a Holiday. Bristol City Council never move them on unless they are travellors who turn up on College Green outside the City Hall.

Their policy is to allow them to camp where they want as they do not have to house them. They will be back once the site has been cleared up

People easily forget that a million+ people marched in London against the Blair and Bush wars, it changed preciscely nothing. If they or anyne else think that glueing themselves to the No. 41 bus will change a politicians mind they are delusional.

Is there anyone who still doesn't know the planet is fked? I highly doubt it. What is needed now are ideas and serious plans to actully do something not self aggrandising ego maniacs spouting the same virtue signalling mantra.

I'm all for making changes, but gluing yourself to a road and making thousands of people late for work wont garner their support in anyway. Whether thats right or wrong doesn't come itno it, thats simply how it is.

Seeing how people reacted around me last year when the council put in a quietway/cycle lane situation I don't hold out any hope for any change at all. as people are to selfish. You would have thought the council had put land mines on their driveways and the way they reacted was embarresing. Although there was no actual lack of access to the roads the council did it to, criminal damage enused to make access less of a hassle (by which i mean they had to turn their steering wheels a bit less) and the council capitulated after only 3 weeks.

Nothing will change unless it means money for government coffers. The planet is fked.

By what definition do you think the planet is fked?

Also when China produces 30% of the worlds Co2 Emissions what difference does it make if Doris Cycles into town or Drives?

Reminds me of the recent local elections: many large £million houses in this part of rural SE England with 'Vote green Party' boards nailed up in their gravel driveways. Surely they realise that if we are to implement everything that the greens or XR want, these very same people will be forced to live in caves?

And as asked elsewhere, or maybe esrlier in this thread, if they want to lobby and cause problems to a real polluter, why don't they protest in Beijing? Because they know they'd get both short shrift from the authorities and no possibility to hit Cargo or Ministry of Sound in the evenings. My knowledge about the popular London clubs is very limited, but you get the point.

Let me get this right. I drive a filthy diesel car and have holidayed in Costa Rica, so if I'd trashed the the verge outside my house like the XR cavanners in Bristol instead of re-landscaping it as it did last week then I'd be an "environmental activist" and should proud of myself.

Bristol rolls over every time XR and their ilk fancy a protest. Block the M32, no problem; sit in the middle of the road on the main route through the city centre, go ahead; camp on one of the main bridges, we'll close it off before you arrive so the nasty cars don't disturb you.
