Saw them today in Oxford Circus and near Marble Arch.

They’ve got tents, toilets everything they need. In Marble Arch there was a band playing off the back of a lorry singing about climate change and octopuses or something. We walked around to see how they were powering it and fair play they’d set up about 100 solar panels.

The lorry was probably diesel, the boat in Oxford Circus is on a trailer - both vehicles would have have to be driven in.

The one thing that stood out to me was walking behind one of them down Regent Street, she decided to throw her leaflet on the floor. The Policeman also commented how for the past 3 days he’s been there he’s watched them all walk from Oxford Circus down to use the toilets in McDonalds and not a single person has offered to help the homeless man.

My wife commented that they all looked like they could use a shower. Policeman reckoned they’re all ‘off’ for school holidays and probably don’t look like this normally.

I’d like to know how they stopped the traffic in the first place. Oxford Circus is shut as is all of Park Lane. Did they just all walk out and sit down, did they use vehicles to stop traffic. I’d love to know!

Park Lane this afternoon!

A phallic shaped vehicle sliding in and out of dark holes. Probably sexist, promoting rape or something?

Despite much stick from the PH collective, the protesters have at least succeeded in getting people to speak about climate change again.
Surely they achieved that the last time they did this just a few months ago?

Activist organiser IQ level is a low bar to pass.

Looking forward to seeing the young skamps getting dropped off in their parents SUV.

We should get a big TV set up counting up the CO2 emissions being created by the queues and extended journeys these guys are creating.
Petrol genset, obviously.

Just douse the lot in a non-renewable volatile hydrocarbon liquid, spark up a Woodbine and flick ...

It really beggars belief that the authorities (and I'm looking at you, Mr Policeman) are content to stand by whilst these wastes of skin and hair block the public highway.

Isn't that an offence? What about vagrancy? How about stopping and searching for concealed weapons or illegal mind-expanding substances.

They're threatening to disrupt the Tube tomorrow. Time to point out to them that tube stations are private property and that railways in general are dangerous places where you shouldn't fk around supergluing your buttocks to trains.

They can all ps off and demonstrate in China. Let's see how many of them are ever seen again.

These people are rightly referred to as "watermelons" green on the outside but red on the inside. They want to take away my freedom to drive where I want to, eat what I want to and think what I want to. That's not progressive democracy, its totalitarianism and we all know how well that's worked in the past don't we.

Frankly I don't care about polar bears or parrots or pandas (which are just st bears). If i saw a polar bear walking down Whitehall I'd shoot it.

Hardly. They are campaigning for things that the government want to do to us anyway.

Over 200 arrests so far. But some of the protestors are deliberately placing themselves into situations in order to be arrested.
Strange bunch.

I didn't voice my support for the bunch of imbeciles we keep electing either. Trying to "protect" us from eating the wrong things and driving too fast, trying to censor the internet and clamp down on free speech should be fought on all fronts. I support anyone who takes a different point of view and would defend their right to voice their opinion, but when it impinges on my right to live as I want to, that's enough.

Nothing that Extinction Rebellion stands for will improve the living standards or quality of life of anyone in this country. Give them as much publicity as possible and tear apart the logic of their argument at every turn until they've nothing left to say.

hehe fking pricks!
Perhaps someone needs to re-release the old Move hit: 'I Can Hear the Grass Grow' of 1967?
I think some of these would tell you with certainty that they can!

To think we were called rebellious back then in the 60s, we couldn't hold a candle to these dheads!

The activities of these lunatics are completely counterproductive. They are a bunch of irresponsible fking idiots. Many of the problems they're trying to highlight are real and increasingly urgent. But, as evidenced by many of the comments on this thread, their childish antics give people the excuse to dismiss absolutely every thing they say. They're actively undermining their own cause.

Usually people say "don't shoot the messenger". On this occasion we should. Shoot the messenger, but take the message seriously. The Earth isn't flat just because a militant pillock tells you it's an oblate spheroid while gluing himself to your fridge.

I know a couple of people who went along to some of the organising events for this movement in recent weeks, local to me, local to a mate in Somerset. I'm sure there were dozens more round the country. Not surprisingly most of the people who turned up were middle class, middle-aged, educated, community-minded types; the bed rock who make our communities function. And they were alarmed and dismayed to hear the organisers state from the outset that their objective was to get themselves arrested.
Isn't this time of year the "season" for "shooting the messengers"; I've a vague recollection of some teacher type bloke (quite hirstute like some of the nude ladez in this protest seem to be, but not covered on the beeb) in sunnier parts about 1985 yrs ago trying one of these sorts of protests, entering the city by eco means on a donkey etc etc. Didn't work out too well for him, but got the city moving again after three or four days gridlock over a long weekend?

We've seen recently with the revoke A50 petition how quickly a small campaign can snowball into the public awareness and hence the view of our politicians. This can only be a good thing as we really aren't doing enough to cut CO2.

The irony is the ULEZ is a fantastic start and shows London to be well ahead of rUK.
If we get rid of the A50, which whilst it isn't the best road is better than the A500 can you imagine how much worse the traffic jam between Stone and Uttoxetter will be. London centric protesting government types knowing nothing about rural Northern transport links.
