Someone will make excuses, oh someone already has, but the truth is that there is no punishment that is allowed that is suitable. They need to be given a lot of community work and their parents made to pay.
Harsh but until parents start instilling values and decency and making sure they know what their kids are doing, then we will continue having things like this happen.
A lot of people look down their nose at those whose hobbies are railways or model making but they are skilled dedicated people who deserve better than this

My thoughts exactly. Vandals have no discernible motive, cause misery and expense for their victims and gain nothing for themselves via their actions. I build models so know and understand that, in the media, for many years people like us have been laughed at and ridiculed. This is what happens when you engender such attitudes.
Despite that, I would rather talk to these lads (assuming it was lads) and try to get to know what was going through their minds to decide this would be a fun thing to do. I certainly wouldn't advocate killing them, as one poster seems to be suggesting.

This is awful, absolutely awful.
I thought Stamford was quite a well to do place. Fairly local to me and sometimes head over there for the mid lent funfair model show.
Will be interesting to see what punishment is handed out. I guess it won't deter them. They should be named and as part of their punishment, made to stand in front of the people they have affected and apologise.
The model makes should then be allowed to treat them like they have treated their work.

their motive I assume was "having a laugh" just a bit of fun and the like. The kids won't have considered thoes who built the models put huge amounts of time and effort into thoes and not small sums of money. They simply don't give a s
