We are talking about a situation where you are attracted to someone until you find out they're trans, though. It depends what about that puts you off, really...
Not being the gender I'm attracted to. Pretty straight forward.

It's not Begbie in Trainspotting.
Presenting as gender you're attracted to? Yes. You were attracted to them
Have characteristics of gender you're attracted to? Yes. You were attracted to them

If they're not the gender you're attracted to, how come you're attracted to them in the first place? They must possess at least some of the gender traits you find attractive, otherwise you wouldn't find them attractive to start with. That surely shows that gender isn't purely binary thing?
This is tortuous.

He thought it was an attractive woman, then found out, with the sudden appearance of male genitalia, that it wasn't the sort of woman he was attracted to, i.e. the were a transexual (with a penis)

Yes, you could still admire the tits, but the whole package may not be so enticing.

It's nothing to do with the duality or fluidity of gender, what he or she or ze or whoever else thinks about it or themselves. It's just what you find attractive or what you don't find attractive, of which we are all entitled to our personal opinion.

This wrapping of reality in some convoluted gender politic is probably what puts a lot of people off trying to get a better understanding of these issues.

THen don't settle down with a 'bloke.'

I don't know what sort of generalising 'ist' you'd like to be lumped in with, but if you're the sort that refers to someone who has changed gender to female as a 'bloke', then you seem oblivious to respect and decency..of course, maybe you're not....
A male. I thought it was quote common vernacular.
Yes, I know the term.

It does seem that I am required to respect all minorities just because they are minorities

And they are encouraged to hate and blame me for everything just because I am a white working male.
respecting people is part of being a decent person I would have thought. If you're the sort to call a person who has changed sex to a woman, a bloke, then you do not deserve respect or decency, imo.

But was it a man?
And why wasn’t the gender neutrality of the spider highlighted as an important part of the story.

The whole thing sums up the intolerance of clearly gender neutral spiders by the totally biased journalists.

Clearly, everyone feels the same way.

Quite. You'd hope it would put a lid on some of the more cynical responses.

Excellent news indeed!

Does that charge carry a longer sentence than ABH?

I'm not sure 'excellent news' is the right sentiment, although of course I know what you mean.

Rather sadness that a couple of people minding their own business on the top deck of a bus should be subjected to such abuse by feral youths.

A sad reflection on modern society.

Flogging in the market square whilst being pilloried and facing a taste of their own medicine would seems to be the best punishment..

Unfortunately hand wringers etc will claim that is against human rights or some such nonsense, and what they really need is a suspended sentence with expenses paid activity holiday to cure them of their evil ways..

We shall see the consistency of English jurisprudence, if they are found guilty of course, whether beating up two gays will get a more severe sentence than beating up two un-gay people.

Suggest you look up hate crime legislation.

Assuming I can't be arsed to look, could you tell me if people who assault gay people get more severe sentences than other assaults?

If a crime is motivated by hate it's an aggravating factor and can lead to an increased sentence.

You don't get a longer sentence because the person you assaulted was gay.

The crime itself isn't an aggravated crime (as in they'd be convicted of assault, not 'homophobically aggravated' assault). The aggravation is covered in the sentencing.

I thought that's what my post said... It's an aggravating factor (to the crime) which can lead to an increased sentence.
