This is a car crash. I wondered what the SAGE scientist would say and he hasn't disappointed by comparing the UK to South Korea and Vietnam. Humidity and high UV sunlight decimates the virus, that's why it vanished in the summer. Watch it vanish from Australia in the next few months.

Covid was always going to return this month, but with a marked difference. Areas that had high viral rates in march now have lower rates, as herd immunity increases, the transmission rate drops. We also have social distancing, face masks, increased awareness and the ability to implement these measures.

The Government started so well but failed miserably to give a clear message, it has been confusing, garbled, and incoherent. August saw a weird change in the way stats were delivered, instead of giving absolute numbers it became more of a "rate of increase". If numbers doubled every week, it can be spun to sound far worse than by revealing the actual numbers. start with 1 positive test, double that every week, it takes 10 weeks to reach 1000 positive results a week, far lower than the peak in march.

It is also not mentioned the differing strains of covid.

I'm no tin foil hatter, but the actions of the G do not match the raw scientific data currently emerging. Coronaviruses have been around for ages, it is impossible to eradicate coronavirus. Covid-19 will rapidly attenuate and the very latest evidence is suggesting this has already occurred.

I am left wondering if the government are using this as an excuse for some other nefarious scheme.

Last week, Portillo said there was an elephant in the room, and that was to ask whether measures to tackle coronavirus were worse than the actual virus itself. He's correct.

There seems to be no future plan, and that is deeply concerning.

The ‘conspiracy’ such as it is is that in all likelihood you are correct but no government on earth can work out how to get through that without being called mass murderers.

Well you say it is the government but it is SAGE that called for a nationwide shut down three weeks ago that so far the government has not implemented.

Thursday 22nd October at 10.45pm

Fiona Bruce will be interrupting the Conservative representative Nicky Morgan within the first 50 seconds of Morgans answer
Other panellists are Bridget Phillipson, Joseph Stiglitz, Anne Longfield and Stephen Fitzpatrick.
Outrageously there is no SNP/Liberal Democrat or Green Party representative on tonights programme
And Owen Jones isn't on either

I wonder why the children's commissioner is on tonight.
Luckily I do not even have to watch it to know how this will pan out.

The businessman is a let down. Could he be any further up the govt’s arse?

I guess since he runs an energy company, he stands to profit quite handsomely from lockdowns and restrictions which keep people at home.

Best comment/question so far from the member of the public there asking about can kicking. I suspect no actual answer will be forthcoming.

15 seconds, I started counting. I swear to God I'm going to start timing the length of time each panelist is allowed to talk before being interrupted by FB - and run a basic statistical test to see if there's any bias. Mann Whitney U test, probably.

Was guaranteed that yesterdays vote was going to be brought up. Starving children, heartless tories and all that. During school, free school meals are provided because the government has this duty of care. Not only do they not have that duty outside of school, the government has no obligation to intervene, and it would be one step too far in the role of the state. The government cannot dictate how parents raise their children, simple as that. Intervention occurs when provision falls below a legal minimum, and that is a decision made by a court. Not the government. If a child is taken in to care, it's ultimately not the government that does this, it is a ruling by a court.

Child benefit is about £20 a week, more than enough to buy healthy meals for your child. 2 weetabix for breakfast, sandwiches, fruit and a choc bar for lunch and beans, chips, egg and fish fingers for dinner.

There's a fine line between state support and illegal interference in to the lives of people. In a way, it shows that labour haven't moved on from the days of Corbyn monoxide; the state dictating the feeding regimes of children. Whoever solved that puzzle box and released the corbynites should be ashamed......

What did labour want? Lines of children in northern towns, lined up. "One pair of state issue shoes; one itchy grey smock, one turnip per comrade - NEXT!!"

It was a crude attempt by the left to try and paint the tories as heartless bds. Cheap political points scoring. Still gave Rayner the opportunity to be a gobby cow, suitably reinforced by the weapons grade levels of self righteousness that infects the far left.

All that aside, the bigger question is this. Why the heck have I endured this and missed the first 40 minutes of Spooks on channel 20?

smile indeed, but it did go further than that. I don’t think he had any points to actually make.

Seemed a nice enough chap but as a guest he was a bit of a waste imo.

Just my 2p. If anyone has a convincing case why he’s a good guest, I’d love to hear it.

I find myself in almost total agreement with you

Spooks I am revisiting. It's quite incredible just how many of the MI5 crews bosses were all traitors

Facing the Brutis Interruptus roulette machine tonight are:

Chris Philips - Tory_ Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Immigration Compliance and the Courts. – I’m going for a minute max-

Nick Thomas- Symonds – Labour Shadow Home Secretary took over from Diane Abbot and so far has managed to avoid her errors in talking jack

Marie Van Der Zyl – Board of deputies of British Jews

Anthony Scaramucci ex White House Communications Director.and now a vocal critic of Donald Trump

Bonnie Greer A critic of Trump and a Europhile who will be completely impartial whilst she picks up her regular BBC paycheck and talks in that mellow voice that is so calming

Apsana Begum Labour MP (and member allegedly of the housing swindlers list )will not be appearing

Outrageously there is no SNP/Liberal Democrat or Green Party representative booked so far
I suspect the subject of the American elections and Labours Anti Semitism probe may be discussed tonight.

Meanwhile over on the Drama Channel Spooks is showing the 2nd episode of series 5 in which the team try to stop a far right faction from taking over the UK government its the one that introduces Hermione Norris as Ros Myers and joll;y good it is too

I think Scaramucci is on Brexitcast right after QT. Should be a lot more entertaining and illuminating,
