Peter Kyle playing an extremely stupid game with his anti Westminster posturing in a part of the U.K. that is far more complex than the biffbam of standard politics. What benefit does his stance have? Slate the Tories by all means. But castigate Westminster while ‘supporting the Union’? Stupid.

One big issue is - ROI don’t have a Public Health Service / it is paid Gp visits paid operations etc. how will that be solved? What about seriously Sick people now say terminal or life long issues but are broke who would pay for that?

N Ireland is a net beneficiary of the Barnett formulae - who’s going to pick up the tab for that? Will be a big ask for the low population of ROI.

ROI is not a member of NATO…. Lose that defence.

Currency you’d have to change to the € - but your debts would be in sterling. That could be good or bad for you depending on how exchange rates change.

Thursday 9th June 10.40pm

Ms Bruce’s panel includes

Chris Philip Conservative Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Tech and the Digital Economy
Wes Streeting Labour Shadow Secretary of State for Health and Social Care
Layla Moran Liberal Democrat Spokesman for Foreign Affairs and International Development
Tom Harwood Politcal correspondent for GB News
And Rory Stewart ex Conservative Leader candidate and prospective future Labour Leader

I am sure questions will be very varied and encompass many subjects some of which may include

Boris Johnson should resign now and he should be replaced
Boris should go as his position is untenable
Boris should go for the good of the party
The Tories are split and they cannot govern so a general election should be called
I have never voted Tory in my life and never will, but when will Boris resign
Rory will you stand for PM please we like you
Rory is a tory and all tories are b*stards
Jeremy Hunt cannot be trusted and should never become PM
The government should intervene and pay the rail staff 50% more wages as they deserve it
The government should increase Universal Credit rates on a temporarily permanent basis and give everyone an extra £25 a week
Why can't the government lay on free taxi's to get everyone to work when the rail strike starts
As a conservative politician has mentioned it why can't we have a on Referendum on re joining the EU

Etc

I wonder if Rory’s gotten around to having a suit made that fits?

Rory spot on

Cut vat/duty on petrol and energy that WILL help the poorest.

Cutting 1% on income tax will not help the poorest as they don’t pay income tax or if they do it’s a tiny number.

Do the poorest work at all? I walked about south London today and there’s a lot of folk out and about that don’t look like they do anything. I figure the people I see are probably among the poorest that exist - they’re in many cases so high on whatever that nothing registers - what happens in your average Mosaic/Peabody property?

I think this country is passed saviour in the main at the poorest end. No help on offer at all. It’s pretty brutal to see the state people get to around me and they’re totally through the bet of the system.

I suppose it all boils back to your version of poor but some people are in dire straits in my book and there’s a likelihood of they have to front money at all that they’ll probably get sick and die this winter.

I'm a Dork and was fairly happy with the composition of the audience tonight.

It reflected the demographics of the area as as a safe Tory seat.

No fanbois though.

I have a lot of time for him. He was the only one who told the truth about tax in the Tory Leadership Campaign, I recall. So he lost right there, of course.

They'll follow surgeon's lead. Broadly:

Uk should fund health costs after NI joining ROI
Uk should provide a financial settlement that favours NI
Uk should take all the debt, problem solved.
