As a Scot, last night's show was just embarrassing.

For what purpose.

Scotland why not nationalise your national Grid - you’ll have to borrow the funds yourself.

Public utilities are a reserved matter to Westminster - it is not within the competence of the Scottish Parliament to nationalise any aspect of the transmission system. More gum flapping from the nationalists, spitballing about ideas completely outwith their remit, then squealing that they don't have the "leeevvurrrrzzz". We have seen the roaring success they have made with other nationalised industries - ferries and trains to name just two. A shining example to the world of how not to do it.

+1

Most of the audience seemed pretty financially illiterate. I've had better chats with A level
Economics students.

The SNP twit doesn't seem to understand democracy or the phrase "once in a generation".

Mind you, the SNP whinging on does mean that folks are distracted from their appalling record
of Government. I wouldn't trust them to run a stall at a jumble sale.

I guess that if there is a referendum anytime soon and it goes anything similar to the last one,
then the SNP are pretty much dead in the water for decades.

If the referendum goes the other way and the Scots are free to paddle their own canoe,
then that's a lot of public money (via the Barnett formula) that won't be sent North.

Looks like a win-win to me.

Well, Alastair Campbell really doesn't like Tim Stanley, it seems. Ouch!

Actually I thought Campbell came across as a grumpy, rude old has-been. He constantly talked over Dehenna Davison when he wasn't sneering and pointing a finger at Tim Stanley and even Fiona Bruce had to try to shut him up. And his fixation with Brexit as the root of all evils is pathetic. It was six years ago, and you lost: get over it, man!

Apart from him, a good panel - even the token musician bloke was interesting and eloquent.

Based on recent events, I was expecting last night's QT to be a bit of a car crash but I was pleasantly surprised how civil the panel and the audience were despite Campbell playing to the gallery.

IIRC Winston Marshall posted something political which upset many people, severe trolling followed him. Owing to that Winston decided that it was in the bands interest (Mumford & Sons) that he should resign from the band, which he did. He didn’t want the trolling to carry through to the musicians performing on stage.

WM was a pretty good addition to the panel, AC… just another angry lefty.

It’s always been the Labour panelist’s who insist on talking over people, Nandy, Rayner, Thornbury etc.

That is a slightly selective view, non?

Tim Stanley, Campbell, the Labour woman and the Ex-Mumford were good, even if I didn't agree with everything. The Tory woman less so.

AC is obviously a bit of a character (and, yes, the Iraq War was a travesty), but much of what he says is correct and I can understand why he would try to point out inaccuracies.

Not to my recollection, I’m happy to be corrected? smile

I try not to let my political leaning cloud my judgement of somebody. For example, I thought Bridget Phillipson was very calm and sensible, while disagreeing with her opinion. But Campbell was arrogant ("I'll talk over you because you're talking nonsense") and borderline rude. Telling another panellist - Tim Stanley - that "I don't respect you" marks him out not so much as a 'character' but as a rather unpleasant person. Yesterday's man, fighting yesterday's battles.

What, like the Eurosceptics got over the 1975 vote, and we never heard another peep from them rofl

From day one after the '75 vote, for 41 years they never STFU. All thru Thatcher's time they did everything possible to undermine Europe and erode the public's confidence. As was their democratic right. No one has to just shut up and lump the result of any vote. Eventually the eroded confidence to such an extent, they forced a 2nd vote and won it. As the outgoing PM might say, them's the breaks.

But now it's our turn. I'm 59, so doubt I've got 41 years left, but I will never stop undermining Brexit, and eroding confidence in the liars that brought it to us. It's been 6 years now and I'm quite enjoying it. The fact that it triggers so many rabid brexiteers is even better.

Ps.
