Let just remember what Ted Cruz said in 2016

“I don’t know anyone who would be comfortable with someone who behaves this way having his finger on the button,” Cruz continued. “I mean, we’re liable to wake up one morning and Donald, if he were president, would have nuked Denmark. That’s not the temperament of a leader to keep this country safe.”

The lack of self awareness of how their actions are viewed globally, not just by Trump, but the entire administration, is mind boggling.

Are there no good advisors/diplomats in this government or are they simply shouted down by the man child who always knows best?
No-one want to challenge trump as he just attacks them, often publicly. He's also had so many people leave his administration that he's now surrounded himself with yes men.
No doubt been that way since he joined his father's business as a teenager.

David Frum of The Atlantic magazine made a good point over the cancellation of the Danish state visit. Apparently, Barrack Obama is also visiting Denmark around the same time and Trump suddenly got scared that Obama's visit would attract more coverage and better crowds than his - so he chickened out.

The whole Greenland thing was a manufactured nonsense.

I'm not so sure.

His arrogance that it's "just another real estate deal" is straight from the Trump playbook.

I wonder what trump will have to say about a new netflix documentary tonight, American Factory, the first project to come from the Obamas’ production company,

its message is clear: Trump’s promise to reinvigorate the industrial heartland is going to take a lot more than a campaign slogan. There are no easy solutions. And if some manufacturing jobs do come back, they’re going to look nothing like they used to. Americans will have to accept a new reality to stay competitive in the global marketplace—one that they might not like, and one that Trump doesn’t acknowledge.

Senility or just having a laugh knowing that his days are numbered. He was never a politician so doesn’t need to worry about his post-presidential life. He has a few pennies (allegedly) so doesn’t need the money. All a big game to stroke his ego.
Surprised he's not trying harder for 4 more years, it's the best way to keep him out of an orange jumpsuit for a while

Whether he was serious or not about it is pretty irrelevant, it's still "manufactured nonsense" and makes him look like the prize fool that he is.

I wonder if Trump might've wanted to run for president earlier but simply couldn't countenance losing (what in his eyes is essentially a popularity contest) to a black man?

Seems like a very reasonable chap to have as our new best friend from 1/11/19... very likely to act fairly in any negotiations and respect our desire to maintain high standards and protect our own industries in the deals we want to strike. Not.

You see hissy fits like this, the knee-jerk diplomacy and tweet-based policy making made on the hoof and then listen to our politicians spouting forth about our bright future striking deals that will be to our advantage and I just think 'what planet are you on'.

I can see us pushing back on opening the door for certain sensitive areas - agriculture, healthcare, automotive etc and all the evidence says he'll throw is toys out the cot and fk us over without blinking. If he's happy pushing China around, if we don't comply with the Trump world order you really think he's going to give a damn about putting the squeeze on us?

I would obviously strongly disapprove if say, a bunch of mischievous Danes were to irresponsibly list Trump Tower on Ebay today. whistle

I don't know why he's bothering with Greenland, he will own the UK in a few weeks time.

Trump's whole MO – push hard from position A to position Q, then row back to accept position C which was the main goal in the first place – is classic politics, just ramped up. Remember the chat a few months ago about the US buying the NHS? That's still happening, but it's just happening more stealthily.

Teenager is a bit generous.

Chances are he learned this behaviour as a young child and has never had anyone who has had the power to tell him no... Until now.

Now he has to treat other world leaders and political opponents as equals... And he has no idea how to do it.

Trump has again been lying about his business worth. Remember he has done this consistently before, inflating values to get loans, deflating values to pay less taxes.

In this case it's his loss making Scottish golf courses.

Knowingly providing false or incomplete information on that form is a violation of the Ethics in Government Act punishable by up to a year in jail. Signing the form attesting to the untrue information constitutes making a false statement, punishable by up to five years in prison

His Links course is not worth much. He overpaid massively for Turnberry.

There is no market for the Balmedie - none of the multiple operators will touch it, the US golf operators find it laughable and the course is good but nothing special.

Half the time it's covered in seafog, or dreich, or both. So, has an operating window of about 6 months max.

The UK golf market is flat, and whilst some operators have diversified and done well they have done so with major populations on their doorstep, or, they are internationally recognised destinations in their own right.

think about it, you land at a Scottish airport, where do you head? Some soggy mess in the arse end of nowhere, with nothing around it or Gleneagles, picking up Carnoustie and Muirfield on the way, or pick up the Ayrshire classics.
Not forgetting the Old Course at St Andrews. That makes half-a-dozen courses I'd want to play before I even looked up Balmedie on a map.

This is utterly bizarre, even by Trump’s standards. I thought he liked a bit of pomp and state visits.

The reason he may well get re-elected is the same as the reason the Conservatives are likely to win the next election. Not because they are good, but because the opposition is in utter disarray.
This is my rather depressing thought as well.

Whether that's enough to convince people to vote for her remains to be seen. We have to see how the field is winnowed down over the next year.
