See they are starting a criminal investigation of the Mueller investigation (DoJ)
If memory serves me right it was the DoJ that commissioned the enquiry............
So if true the DoJ is investigating itself
Barr has started an investigation into the investigation to act as a anti-impeachment distraction. If memory serves me right it was the DoJ that commissioned the enquiry............
So if true the DoJ is investigating itself
The criminal investigation will be overseen by Barr and allow prosecutor John Durham to issue subpoenas for witnesses and documents, and file criminal charges.
So mirroring anything the House impeachment inquiry is doing.
All at a time when Barr has been proven to be running around the US allies trying to get them to falsely dish dirt on Biden...
trump campaign is witholding over $1m in payments due from cities where trump has held rallies
lbuquerque has joined a lengthy list of U.S. cities with a simple request: that President Trump’s campaign pay for the costs incurred during a rally. On Wednesday, the Albuquerque Journal reported that the city sent an invoice to Trump’s reelection campaign in an effort to recoup more than $211,000 in expenses from a September rally. That figure includes more than $71,000 in police overtime.
The Trump campaign’s indifference to municipal bills became a significant issue earlier this month when the city of Minneapolis attempted to get paid in advance for a rally Trump was planning to hold in the city. The president and his campaign publicly berated Minneapolis’s mayor. But even then it was easy to see why a city would want Trump’s team to pay in advance.
As the Minneapolis rally loomed, CNN went back to a number of cities that had been identified in June by the Center for Public Integrity as places with outstanding bills in to the Trump campaign. CNN found that there was at least $841,000 still outstanding. The total, though, is more than that: Dave Levinthal, who reported the initial tallies for the Center for Public Integrity, confirmed in an email to The Washington Post on Thursday that he had checked back with all the cities he had identified in July and that none had been paid as of his most recent outreach.
Adding in the bill from Albuquerque, that brings the total outstanding bill to more than $1 million — $1,052,395.78, to be precise. El Paso, which hasn’t been paid for costs from a February rally, added a late fee of about $99,000 earlier this year, bringing the total to $1,151,183.36. Add in the $530,000 that Minneapolis was originally seeking and the total nears $1.7 million.

More bad news for Giuliani
Rudy Giuliani’s problems keep piling up.
His responsibilities are shrinking as Donald Trump’s TV-friendly personal attorney. His efforts to dig up dirt on the president’s political opponents have landed his highest-profile client in a congressional impeachment investigation. And two of his foreign-born business associates are headed to trial on charges that are part of a broader effort by federal prosecutors eyeing Giuliani himself.
The scrutiny isn’t just coming from the previously known probes by FBI agents and the U.S. attorney’s office based out of Manhattan, according to two people familiar with the investigation. The criminal division of the Justice Department in Washington has taken an interest in the former New York mayor, too, meaning an expansion of resources that indicates the politically sensitive probe into the president’s personal attorney is both broader and moving at a faster pace than previously understood.
Adding DOJ’s criminal division to the Giuliani probe is sure to place additional scrutiny on William Barr, who as attorney general has final say over all department business. Already, Barr’s reputation has taken hits over his handling of the public rollout on Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, with Democrats complaining he spun the special counsel’s findings earlier this year to give them a pro-Trump flavor.

A federal judge on Thursday held Education Secretary Betsy DeVos in contempt for violating an order to stop collecting loan payments from former Corinthian Colleges students.
Magistrate Judge Sallie Kim of the U.S. District Court in San Francisco slapped the Education Department with a $100,000 fine for violating a preliminary injunction. Money from the fine will be used to compensate the 16,000 people harmed by the federal agency’s actions. Some former students of the defunct for-profit college had their paychecks garnished. Others had their tax refunds seized by the federal government.

Shouldn't that be jail time for her?

and trumps Ukraine scandal evidence is piling up.
Tim Morrison, a top Russia and Europe adviser on President Donald Trump's National Security Council, is expected to testify before House impeachment investigators next week and corroborate key elements of a top US diplomat's account that Trump was pressing for Ukraine to publicly announce investigations into the Bidens before he would greenlight US security assistance, according to sources.
Bill Taylor, the top US diplomat in Ukraine, said in extraordinary testimony on Tuesday that Trump pushed for Ukraine to publicly announce investigations, including one into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, using as leverage the military aid the country sought to fight back against Russian aggression.
Morrison's testimony is expected to be significant because he is a current White House official whose name was cited 15 times in Taylor's opening statement, which Democrats view as damning for Trump.

It is that simple because Trump doesn't give a solitary fk about anything you've said. Success for him was getting elected and further success would he staying in power.
Trump will certainly give a fk when he's on trial for his abuses in the office of the president.Which is pretty much a given now.

Doubt it will make an ounce of difference. the headwind from the GOP Senate and GOP Congress will dilute any consequences to a minimum.Tim Morrison, a top Russia and Europe adviser on President Donald Trump's National Security Council, is expected to testify before House impeachment investigators next week and corroborate key elements of a top US diplomat's account that Trump was pressing for Ukraine to publicly announce investigations into the Bidens before he would greenlight US security assistance, according to sources.

The only possible chance of Trump being held remotely accountable is for him to be thrown out on his ear next November. IF there's a significant public counter-Trump movement then those GOP members currently acting as his defensive wall will gradually melt away and THAT might expose him to proper legal process.

When this is all over, it might be a good idea that was something as hideous as this to ever occur again, the person in question could be held accountable like an ordinary citizen.

Been reading this for the last 3 years
And look what's happening. Mostly owing to the fact that even if the impeachment "succeeds" (whatever that means) - the senate will flatly ignore it, allowing Trump to accelerate the rhetoric into the elections next year with "I survived BOTH witch hunts - DOUBLE owning the libtards... VOTE FOR ME. MAGA Again!"
The only thing is to vote him out, at which point the orange merkined scrotum probably still won't leave... Then he will pre-pardon himself and head to a gilded dacha on the Black Sea.
Just a couple of days ago I posted about trumps finances, wondered weather he was actually skint, as trump complained that being president had cost him £2-5bn.
Now usually with trump he gives away stuff with his comments.
Now it seems they are looking to sell trump Washington hotel, the one that everyone books lots of rooms and never uses, to curry favour with him.
The Trump Organization is exploring a sale of the rights to the company’s opulent Washington, D.C., hotel, a move it says is motivated partly by criticism that the Trumps are flouting ethics laws by profiting from the property

Chairs Schiff, Engel, and Maloney have sent letters conveying subpoenas to two Office of Management and Budget officials, Michael Duffey and Russell Vought, that compel them to appear at a deposition on November 5 and 6, respectively, as part of the impeachment inquiry.
The Chairs also sent a letter conveying a subpoena to Department of State Counselor T. Ulrich Brechbuhl that compels him to appear at a deposition on November 6, 2019 as part of the House of Representatives' impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump.

- What statistics are showing the trade war has been bad for the US economy? GDP and GDP per capita are up, unemployment is super low.
https://eu.detroitnews.com/story/opinion/2019/10/24/opinion-end-trade-war-blue-collar-america/4063891002/Article says "prevented the creation of 300,000 jobs and reduced GDP growth by 0.3% according to Moodys".
GDP growth doesn't have to be negative for something to be bad, that growth just has to be lower than it would otherwise be.
The government is reporting a 26% increase over the 2018 deficit of $779 billion. The surge reflected such factors as revenue lost from the 2017 tax cut and a budget deal that added billions in spending for military and domestic programs.
Forecasts by the Trump administration and the Congressional Budget Office project that the deficit will top $1 trillion in the current budget year. And the CBO estimates that the deficit will stay above $1 trillion over the next decade.
Those projections stand in contrast to President Donald Trump’s campaign promises that even with revenue lost from his tax cuts, he would be able to eliminate the federal budget deficit.

A coalition of Inspectors General is urging the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel to withdraw or modify its opinion that the whistleblower complaint regarding President Donald Trump's communications with Ukraine was not of "urgent concern," a determination that initially blocked the allegations from reaching Congress.
In a new letter sent to Assistant Attorney General Steven Engel this week, the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency, which is composed of federal government inspectors general, slammed an OLC memo that "effectively overruled the determination by the ICIG regarding an 'urgent concern' complaint" that the ICIG concluded was "credible and therefore needed to be transmitted to Congress."

Eric Trump on today said: “People are objecting to us making so much money on the [DC] hotel, and therefore we may be willing to sell.”
and then we find out
The House Transportation Committee issued a subpoena to the General Services Administration on Thursday seeking financial records and other information regarding President Trump’s D.C. hotel.
The Trump International Hotel operates in the federally owned Old Post Office Pavilion, on a lease that Trump signed in 2013 when he was still with his company, which has become the center of lawsuits and conflict-of-interest concerns since he took office.
According to a copy of the subpoena, sent by committee Chairman Peter A. DeFazio (D-Ore.) to GSA Administrator Emily Murphy, the committee is seeking any communications between the GSA and President Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump or Eric Trump, as well as monthly financial records that the Trump Organization provides to the agency.
Ivanka Trump managed the project for her father before he entered politics. Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump are running the company while Trump is president.

Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX) had a full blown meltdown during a CNN interview on Friday in which he was caught red-handed peddling falsehoods about former Vice President Joe Biden.
During the interview, Gooden falsely claimed that Biden had bragged about getting Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin fired while the prosecutor was investigating his son, Hunter Biden.
