I think Conan's sense of smell has been damaged by his military career. Spending to long a time in close proximity to explosives does that.

He obviously couldn't smell the complete moron right next to him.

Why would an SF dog be a drugs sniffer? Odd.

Well, that was big yesterday, trump lost in court again, only this time, his staff issued subpoenas must testify. Whilst teh case was about McGahn, people such as Bolton were using this as a testign ground, plus of course many others such as Mulvaney will be affected by this ruling.

Former Trump White House counsel Donald McGahn must comply with a House subpoena, a federal court ruled Monday, finding that “no one is above the law” and that top presidential advisers cannot ignore congressional demands for information. The ruling raises the possibility that McGahn could be forced to testify as part of the impeachment inquiry.

U.S. District Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson of Washington found no basis for a White House claim that the former counsel is “absolutely immune from compelled congressional testimony,” setting the stage for a historic separation-of-powers confrontation between the executive and legislative branches of the government.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/legal-issues/...

Chairman Schiff: "With today's ruling, the courts have made it absolutely clear – first with Harriet Miers and now with Don McGahn – that absolute immunity is not a legitimate basis by which to prohibit senior White House officials from testifying before Congress."

"The witnesses who have defied Congress at the behest of the president will have to decide whether their duty is to the country or to a president who believes that he is above the law. We would encourage witnesses to demonstrate the same courage"

Pelosi: "The Courts have been clear: the President's insistence that he is above the law is an offense to our Constitution ... Today's ... decision in the McGahn case is yet another resounding ruling that the Admin's claim of 'absolute immunity' ... has no basis in the law."

The ruling: https://www.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.d...
In which the judge said:

"Stated simply, the primary takeaway from the past 250 years of recorded American history is that Presidents are not kings."

Speaking of trumps lawyers, Cohen is of course in jail for doing trumps bidding, looks like Giuliani is heading that way as well?

Subpoenas issued to people with ties to Rudy Giuliani and his associates indicate a broad federal investigation into possible money laundering, obstruction of justice and campaign-finance violations

The subpoenas offer the clearest indication yet that federal prosecutors are examining Giuliani's consulting work. among the entities named in the subpoenas are Giuliani Partners, a firm founded by Giuliani in 2002 that had multiple foreign clients, including a city in Ukraine.

Potential charges under consideration
Obstruction
Money laundering
Conspiracy to defraud the US
False statements to the feds
Failing to register as a foreign agent
Donating funds from foreign nationals
Making contributions in the name of another person
Mail & wire fraud

...and

National Enquirer's David Pecker has reportedly spoken with prosecutors with the New York DA's office as part of its investigation into the Trump Organization's handling of hush money payments to women who alleged affairs with Trump.

The America Media Inc. chairman's late October meeting with prosecutors from the major economic crimes bureau could provide key details on discussions that took place involving Stormy Daniels, the adult film star who allegedly had an affair with Trump, and agreements that were made with former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, the sources said.

Cohen is cooperating with the investigation. Pecker is expected to continue talking with prosecutors, sources said.
The meeting between Pecker and the local prosecutors shows that investigators are still trying to connect the dots between Trump and the hush money payments. The meeting could result in Pecker being a potential critical witness down the road in any legal action against Trump or the Trump Organization.

Edit: so of course thats Pecker (catch and kill) and trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg cooperating...

So the internet is full of questions about whether trump had a minor stroke last week with his rush to hospital, pointing out that his left arm wasn't moving much. He's always been very animated before...

Lev Parnas, a business associate of Rudy Giuliani, wants to testify to Congress that aides to Rep. Devin Nunes called off a trip to Ukraine this year when they realized they would be required to notify Democratic committee Chairman Adam Schiff.

The purpose of the trip was to interview two Ukrainian prosecutors who claim to have evidence that could help President Trump's reelection campaign, according to Parnas' lawyer.

Parnas also alleges that Nunes, a leading Trump ally, himself traveled to Vienna last year to interview a potential source of political dirt on Joe Biden.

That would be quite damning if true. He would be easy to discredit though. It could be seen as he is trying to save his own skin.
Oh it gets better

According to the Washington Post, there's a money trail being investigated from Giuliani, Parnas and Fruman, through trumps main Super Pac and onto trump, so again trumps been funneling foreign money right into his campaign fund.

Parnas has already turned over recordings and documents to the House impeachment inquiry

Giuliani’s dealings with the two men, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, are being investigated by federal prosecutors at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. That office has already filed campaign finance charges against Parnas and Fruman and accused them of conspiracy and making false statements to the Federal Election Commission.

reporter hedging the bets assuming WH will appeal to the supreme court?

A statement from McGahn attorney William Burck says he will comply if it is upheld:

“Don McGahn will comply with Judge Jackson’s decision unless it is stayed pending appeal. The DOJ is handling this case, so you will need to ask them whether they intend to seek a stay.”

Remember for team trump - it's all about running out the clock

...a handful of the Pentagon's highest-ranking officials have been debating just when they would feel compelled to resign over what they see as Trump's disregard for the chain of command.

"There's a sense of dejection by senior leaders in the Pentagon, that the president and the secretary of defense are going to side with the loudmouths at Fox News against the reasoned opposition of senior military professionals," said another Pentagon official with direct knowledge of high-level discussions. "That's the sense in a nutshell."

If Donald Trump gets his wish, he’ll soon take the three convicted or accused war criminals he spared from consequence on the road as special guests in his reelection campaign, according to two sources who have heard Trump discuss their potential roles for the 2020 effort.

Despite military and international backlash to Trump’s Nov. 15 clemency – fallout from which cost Navy Secretary Richard Spencer his job on Sunday – Trump believes he has rectified major injustices. Two people tell The Daily Beast they’ve heard Trump talk about how he’d like to have the now-cleared Clint Lorance, Matthew Golsteyn, or Edward Gallagher show up at his 2020 rallies, or even have a moment on stage at his renomination convention in Charlotte next year. Right-wing media has portrayed all three as martyrs brought down by “political correctness” within the military.

I see the alleged chinese spy at Mar-a-Lago got 8 months yesterday, which she's just about served - one week to go and then she's deported...

When Zhang was arrested, she was carrying four cellphones, a computer and an external hard drive and her hotel contained more electronics and cash. That led to speculation she might be a spy, but she was never charged with espionage.

the public defender said Mar-a-Lago has no rule against carrying any number of electronics and Zhang should be sentenced to the eight months she has already served.

Speaking of turkeys:

President Trump asked multiple federal agencies to address Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's "concerns" that Turkey’s state-owned bank would be under threat of U.S. sanctions, according to a response from the Treasury Department to a senior Democratic senator.

It is the first public U.S. admission of Trump directing Cabinet officials, in this case in Treasury and the Department of Justice, to involve themselves with Erdoğan’s concerns around Halkbank, a Turkish state-owned bank indicted last month by federal prosecutors for allegedly funneling billions of dollars to Iran in violation of U.S. sanctions.

It also raises questions about how Trump’s personal relationships and business dealings influence his foreign policy decisions, at a time when his dealings with Ukraine are under scrutiny as part of a formal impeachment inquiry led by House Democrats.
