in the tedious and relentless corbyn bad thread this was somewhat lost. Has the chief rabbi got a view yet or is he too busy sticking pins in his corbyn doll?

a different thread, but surely with the way the Labour Party has tried to cover up and ignore their antisemitism, I think the Chief Rabbi here has his hands full.

In the US however...it's not gone down well with trump trying to play to his base, in this case base describes them well.

Trump was speaking to the Israeli American Council when he said this horrible thing: “You’re not nice people at all, but you have to vote for me. You have no choice. You’re not going to vote for Pocahontas, I can tell you that.”
https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/120353097189679... for the video

He was at the Israeli American Council stereotyping and attacking Jewish people while speaking to a group whose stated mission is to preserve and protect Jewish identity!!!

Giuliani is skint, sounds like his third wife has had enough with him and is giving interviews?

A third marriage has fallen into divorce court ruins, revealing monthly expenses of $230,000 for six homes and 11 country club memberships. By taking President Trump as a client, he lost a position at a law firm in 2018 that paid him $6 million annually, according to court filings. In October, he broke with a partner in a security consultancy, a former police officer who had been at his side for three decades. He was so badly hurt in a fall two years ago that his wife put off divorce plans and looked after him for a while. She laments that before he appears in public, no one tells him that dye has given his hair an orange tinge.

Mr. Giuliani has been the voice in Mr. Trump’s ear when others could not be heard, and served as the voice of Mr. Trump in places where presidents dare not go.
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/08/us/politics/giu...

Remember - “I will tell Rudy and AG Barr to call.” from trumps own summary

Giuliani flew into kiev on a budget airline, working for trump yet without a budget. If he's too broke to buy a decent airplane ticket, then he’s too broke to mount much of legal defense once he’s arrested. Surely nows the time to arrest him, he'd have to try for a plea deal as he couldn't afford the legal defence.

trump kept his promise and brought two of the soldiers he had pardoned in cases involving war crimes onstage at a fund-raiser this weekend in Florida,

Mr. Trump, as the featured speaker, invited up Army First Lt. Clint Lorance and Maj. Mathew L. Golsteyn, according to a report in The Miami Herald that was confirmed by a person with knowledge of the event.

The fund-raiser, which was held Saturday at the J.W. Marriott Turnberry Resort and Spa in Aventura and benefited the Republican Party of Florida, was closed to reporters. A Republican official, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the event, said that the officers were guests of an attendee and that they had not been part of the program. Mr. Trump appears to have called them up upon learning they were there.

Major Golsteyn was awaiting trial at the time of his pardon, charged with a single count of premeditated murder for the 2010 killing of a Taliban bomb-making suspect. He had admitted he killed the man in interviews with reporters, but said it was justified because he believed the man was returning to the Taliban after being released from questioning.

Lieutenant Lorance was serving a 19-year sentence for directing soldiers in his command to shoot unarmed villagers, killing two men, in 2012.

What legal skills does Giuliani have that warranted $6M a year???

That "job" sounds dodgy in itself, before he even joins Trump.

mad

What goes through the man's head?

No thought process, no sense of propriety, no tact, no decorum, no common sense, no decency, no manners.

This is the guy who said:

"Right now, a number of state laws allow a baby to be born from his or her mother’s womb in the ninth month. It is wrong. It has to change"

He probably mis-spoke but you know, still.

As some rando said on Twitter last night:

If my 74 year old father needed 15 flushes to make his poop go down the toilet, declared that the water coming down from the sky is called rain and said that women giving birth in their 9th month is wrong and needs to be addressed, what would you tell me to do?

Actually he was super well qualified.
He had been Associate Attorney General and States Attorney for SDNY.
Those are extremely senior legal positions.
Then he was Mayor of NYC which makes him politically qualified.
And so his law firm spent time lobbying for energy companies and defending evil pharma companies.

It would be good to have some evidence for that statement...

...although give Rudy enough time, and I'm sure he'll open his mouth and supply it.

I point my learned friend to the article in the Independent last week "Rudy Giuliani hasn't changed, he's always been crooked"

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/...

Where this article falls short it the trump supporting FBI officers on the NY office leakign sensitve data to Giuliani and hence team trump, that forced Comeys hand over Clintons email, which also assisted trump with the election. Comey testified to this

orth Korea insulted U.S. President Donald Trump again on Monday, calling him a “heedless and erratic old man” after he tweeted that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un wouldn’t want to abandon a special relationship between the two leaders and affect the American presidential election by resuming hostile acts.

Kim Yong Chol said Trump’s tweets clearly show that he is an irritated old man “bereft of patience.”

“As (Trump) is such a heedless and erratic old man, the time when we cannot but call him a ‘dotard’ again may come,” Kim Yong Chol said.

“Trump has too many things that he does not know about (North Korea). We have nothing more to lose. Though the U.S. may take away anything more from us, it can never remove the strong sense of self-respect, might and resentment against the U.S. from us.”

If he wins in 2020 (please no) then he will spend the next 4 years only talking about 2 subjects:
1) Remove term limits
2) Promoting Jr and Ivanka to succeed him should (1) fail

Ivanka for sure, his favourite and also she would be the first female president so a double whammy for them.

Lets hope they are all in jail by then... winkbiggrin

Experts amazed as GOP counsel Castor offers stunningly weak defense of Trump at hearing

Attorney Steve Castor, the Republican Party’s lead counsel in House Judiciary Committee impeachment hearings, did his best to defend President Donald Trump — but many experts believe his best was far from sufficient.

Throughout his opening statement, Castor barely touched upon the core allegations that Trump abused his office in order to pressure a foreign government to launch an investigation into his top rival in the 2020 presidential election.

In fact, Castor spent most of his time attacking Democrats, whom he accused of making up wild charges to bring down the president.
