It would be great if he makes 'Nixon and trump' a two-man club.

Nothing has really changed. Republicans will vote no in senate (they actually control this) then he will go on to win his 2020 election as he has full support of the republicans.

“ House Republicans displayed remarkable unity during the impeachment process — none of them voted for impeachment”

It’s the exact same issue as Corbyn over here, the democrats are unelectable at the moment due to policy’s that are too left for the country. Doesn’t help them that his constant tweets about jobs/economy are actually true so middle America loves him.

There's enough R senators in dodgy seats to push further in the senate but not enough to convict.

Coming from a person of colour, the random people of colour conveniently placed behind him at his rallies do amuse me. This time he has gone for women of colour. Word has it that "many people" are hired in for the rallies. Shameful way to earn a few pennies if you ask me..

Democrats have made gains in elections since Trump's election, and even in that election the Democrat nominee got more votes than Trump - in what way are the Democrats unelectable?

The same way labour were 100% going to win as told to us by certain media locations.

When your out there you can tell the vast difference between how California and New York etc differ from much more of the country.

“ What concerns progressives is that despite their relentless rhetorical assault, Trump’s approval ratings among black voters appear to range between 18–34 percent (among Hispanics that number has reached the forties” Not surprised they are in his crowds...

Primaries are for feeding red meat to the party faithful; the dem party faithful are significantly to the left of Joe and Josephine Sixpack from Peoria, so candidates tend to offer stuff that excites them, then promptly swing toward the centre once they bag the nomination.

It seems an odd approach, because everything is recorded and available. What are they going to say if they win the primaries "oh don't worry, I was just lying then to win some votes, but I'm telling the truth now, honest guv!" Trump will wipe the floor with them.

Bit like those totes awkward videos of Heidi Allen at the Hustings for the 2017 election advocating for Brexit and fulfilling the democratic mandate, anything else would be a complete betrayal".

It's not lying though, regardless of how right-on a president's agenda might be by the time it gets through Congress it will be watered down to a significant degree.

Please correct if wrong, the process so far and from the evidence given, is it the case that Trump has not actually done anything illegal? The only charge being placed by the Dems is that he "tried" to do something illegal?
Sorry missed this yesterday, busy.

Lets just put this to bed once and for all. Everything trump has done has been illegal.

Everyone says he took foreign assistance in the 2016 election, many people have been charged and jailed for their involvement. trump and his team then spent over two years obstructing and trying to cover up what they'd done, with Barr providing the final assistance in shutting down Mueller, redacting a lot of his report and trying to only publicise an incorrect summary.

This foreign assistance was bankrolled by the russians, not only directly through the bot farms, social media, Cambridge Analytica, but also with money, pumped indirectly, through the NRA, distributed to trump and GOP candidates. Other countries involved included Saudi, Israel, and then trumps obligations to UAE, Qatar because of money.

This is illegal to seek or take foreign assistance in elections.

Then look at all the foreign money pumped into his inaugoration fund, again illegal.

Move onto this coming election and trumps done the same again, again bankrolled through russian money directed through Oligarchs to trumps intermediaries, only this time he's not covered his tracks as well and all communications have trump at the center.

Remember this isn't just about Ukraine, it's just thats easier to prove because of the incompetance of the people involved, especially Giuliani. Barr was also trying to get the UK, Australia and Italy to do the same as they wanted Ukraine to do.

and again trumps obstructed everything to try to cover up.

Never mind his illegal campaign payments to women to cover up his sex scandals, for which there is still a sealed indictment as a co conspirator

I did a post a couple of weeks ago? pointing out the same people are placed behind trump everytime, how adverts are plaved on craigslist, how some supporters are payed to be at every rally

In fact at his rally last night he admitted it in his trump way, of denying whats true

Trump boasts about low African-American unemployment, then spots an African-American in the crowd, then asks the man if Trump pays him. He explains, "I have a group of African-American guys, and gals by the way, that follow me around, and they think I pay them, and I don't."

In fact his rally last night was totally weird. He went on about toilets again, ranted about Pelosi, attacked Beto o'rourke, lied about job numbers inflating them massively, same with his poll numbers, claimed that San Franciso flushed needles and drugs into the sea through their sewers...

absolutely weird...

meanwhile trump was Indicted by the house, with Pelosi indicating the House may hold the articles of impeachment and not send then to the Senate until it’s understood the Senate will conduct a fair trial.

So he made history, just not how he wanted...

Article I adopted 230-197-1.
Article II adopted 229-198-1.

Remember when the GOP complained they were doing this just before Christmas that house Republicans voted to impeach President Bill Clinton on 20 Dec 1998

Totally agree. He will be exonerated and walk back into power. There are comparatives with this country, but we don’t want to go there.

Pelosi held a press conference right nowlast night and one reporter asked if and when she plans to send the articles of impeachment to the Senate. She responded by pulling out a piece of paper and read the recent quote in which Mitch McConnell said he’s not planning to be an impartial juror, and that he’s planning to coordinate the Senate impeachment trial with Donald Trump’s White House Counsel. Pelosi then made clear that she’s not specifically threatening to not send the articles; she was merely answering the question.

She then announced she's not going to name impeachment trial managers until at least January, and “possibly later,” With no impeachment managers, there can’t be an impeachment trial. This mechanism means that the Senate is forced to sit on its hands indefinitely, and Mitch McConnell can’t give Donald Trump the Senate trial acquittal that Trump so badly wants.

“Though the House adopted two articles of impeachment charging Trump with abuse of power and obstruction of congressional investigations, it must pass a second resolution formally naming impeachment managers to present the case in the Senate. That second vehicle triggers the official transmission of articles to the Senate.”
https://www.politico.com/news/2019/12/18/trump-imp...

By delaying passage of that resolution, Pelosi and top Democrats retain control of the articles and hope to put pressure on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to adopt trial procedures they consider bipartisan.

McConnell has boasted that he has closely coordinated the planning of the trial with the White House and has repeatedly predicted Trump would be acquitted. He’s also suggested Democrats shouldn’t be allowed to call new witnesses as they attempt to present their case.

“So far we haven’t seen anything that looks fair to us,” Pelosi told reporters at a news conference just moments after the House charged Trump with abuse of power and obstructing congressional investigations. “That would’ve been our intention, but we’ll see what happens over there.”

One of trumps rally rants last night was against Rep. Debbie Dingell.
"Debbie Dingell, that's a real beauty," Trump says. "I gave them the A treatment," he says, of the family after Rep. John Dingell died. Says Dingell told him her husband would be looking down happy. "Maybe he's looking up," Trump says.

The response from Rep. Debbie Dingell’s office after the president’s attack tonight, pointing out all of trumps lies...

and from Debbie Dingell
Rep. Debbie Dingell
@RepDebDingell

Mr. President, let’s set politics aside. My husband earned all his accolades after a lifetime of service. I’m preparing for the first holiday season without the man I love. You brought me down in a way you can never imagine and your hurtful words just made my healing much harder.

I haven’t seen any evidence that trump is specifically responsible economically for anything other than being president whilst the job numbers and stock market, etc. continue along trends that have been stable since a couple of years into the Obama presidency. trump seems by far the laziest world leader, appearing to spend most of his time tweeting and watching TV, I think the big difference between him and previous presidents is that he continually takes credit for any data that look good, and simply ignores anything that doesn’t.

Previous presidents have not taken to twitter daily crowing about the stock market rising, since that is what it tends to do, and is very little to do with the president.

It’s notable that on the occasions that the markets take a dip, he is nowhere to be found or blaming it on the Fed.

This is someone who attempted to take personal credit for a safe year in commercial aviation. He simply has zero shame.

He will absolutely not be legitimately ‘exonerated’.

If you robbed a bank, but at your trial, you were able to select the jury from members of your family and your friends, do you really think that in those circumstances when they let you go, you are exonerated?

Of course, trump will portray it that way, and a lot of his supporters are very stupid and will believe that, as they seem to believe anything he says, even though most of it is demonstrably false. But it would be a dangerous thing for anyone more educated to fall into the trap of saying once cleared by the Senate he will have been shown to be innocent of wrongdoing.

He just isn’t.
