Speaking of the Abortion laws/fight/debate

An Alabama lawmaker has authored a bill that would require each man to undergo a vasectomy at age 50 or "after the birth of his third biological child, whichever comes first."

Under Rep. Rolanda Hollis' proposal, men also would have to pay for the procedure themselves.

In a statement, Hollis explained her reasoning for the bill -- to shed light on the abortion ban introduced in the state.

More than 1,100 former federal prosecutors and Justice Department officials called on Attorney General Barr to step down after he intervened in the Roger Stone case.

"Each of us strongly condemns President Trump's and Attorney General Barr's interference in the fair administration of justice," the former Justice Dept. lawyers, from across the political spectrum, wrote in the letter. Those actions, they said, "require Mr. Barr to resign."

They urged current gov't employees to report any signs of unethical behavior to Congress.
"Be prepared to report future abuses to the inspector general, the Office of Professional Responsibility, and Congress," they wrote, and "to refuse to carry out directives that are inconsistent with their oaths of office."

Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale deletes dramatic Air Force One photo after people point out it's from 2004 https://cnn.it/2SyOMFm

This is after Air Force 1 did a flypast over Daytona 500. That was cool enough surely it didn't need lying about?

The racist tag is such a good bouncy ball for the opposition to run yapping after. Make a small remark about letterboxes or be a bit uncouth about and off they go, doubling up between each other until they sound crazy even to their base. Meanwhile, spread some love to the deplorables and voila, a second term or a majority in the house.

The woke are in a dream. Completely distracted.
By 'woke', I'm assuming you mean normal people who don't talk and behave like dicks.
The most common use of the term "woke" i have seen by far, is one that most flat-earthers use to show they are not fooled by the system and have the brains to know the world is really flat and are not part of the sphere-globe conspiracy....

I know what woke is, I was commenting on the way it is now being used as a pejorative against anyone showing empathy, sympathy or understanding, i.e. for not acting like a dick.

Yep - demonise care, concern and general good heartedness. That is going to work out well for society.

I didn't use it that way, and it generally isn't used that way either. You didn't 'comment on the way it was used as a pejorative against someone showing understanding', you implied I had, which I hadn't.

If you remember, it was regarding the Dems dealing with fringe issues [slavery reparation, transexual rights' etc] in the context of a distraction away from the actual lived life of the voter.

It absolutely is generally used that way. Your ignorance of that doesn't make it untrue.

Fag butts indeed - cast about by uncaring and sloppy individuals who do much damage by their wastefulness in the use of English.

Eric, you can be perfectly caring, concerned and good hearted without thinking men are women if they say so and that's all there is to it, that slave reparations need to be made, that if you're white you are racist even if you think you aren't or that our culture is inherently sick and needs dismantling. That doesn't mean that people shouldn't be treated sympathetically or that we should get carried away thinking our society is faultless or that racism doesn't exist at all.

If you read back a page you'll see a long passage demonstrating that I do care, but about real people, not imaginary issues foist upon us by those using compassion as a cloak for power.

If that's true, will the AMA or whatever professional body take an interest?

If you can't saying something good - say nothing.

People are getting far too nasty and harsh on each other.

Thanks for the advice, perhaps direct it to those that implied I was 'uncaring, unconcerned bad hearted' or a 'dick' for pointing out the 'woke' agenda is scuppering the opposition to Trump.

I doubt it. Either way, this kind of thing is going to increase support for Trump, not hurt him. I doubt most (if any) of his supporters care how legal his anti-immigration efforts are.

Tell you what - you do that.

When demanding others be nice, start with oneself.

I tend to agree. We always wanted a real Trump supporter to join the thread and explain their thinking.

What we've ended up with is two entrenched sides shouting at each other. I am as guilty as anyone else of joining in this shouting.

For all of Jimbeaux's claims of TDS, for me the way he engages in the "debate" places him in the same position at the opposite end of the spectrum.

Which I guess makes us all deranged, and makes for a bad thread.

Edit: by "us" I mean those taking part in the back and forth bickering - before someone jumps on me for tarring everybody with the same brush.
