So, the EU has tonight gone from "the backstop is absolutely, totally and utterly non-negotiable" to"

"At a press conference ahead of a working dinner, the German chancellor said a realistic alternative to the plan would require "absolute clarity" on the post-Brexit future relationship between the UK and the EU."
That was always the case. It was the UK’s inability to state with sufficient detail our preferred trade package that the WA was required. This is as a direct result of triggering A50 without a strategy/plan.

Can’t see the wood for the trees, can they?

Which is why many voted for it.
Any evidence yet to support your statement that the May-Robbins plan was actually a DExU plan?

Or are we back to 'the look on Carlos Ghosn's face' levels of delusion?

Priceless, have another rofl

The role of leadership is to transform the complex situation into small pieces and fk them up one after the other.

Seriously? You dont remember the Chequers farce?
Of course.

Do you think it was not one of the options being considered by the Dept responsible for Brexit?
Certain that it was a surprise to DexEU. They all resigned days after Chequers was inflicted on them.

Haven’t forgotten that at all.

He was an idiot who gambled that less than 50% would be duped into voting leave.

He underestimated leavers “capabilities” in this respect.

looks like she is willing to flex on an Ireland border deal, nothing like a bit of brinkman(woman)ship at the 11th hour and 59 minutes.

I think just about every vocal Remain MP (bar Clarke voted to hold a referendum, so don't forget a couple of hundred other Remain dolts for you to blame and be angry at.
These are the people you now rely on to massively u-turn for any hope for reversing the result.

Underestimated the Loonies, fruitcakes and closet racists so he did.............shame you seem to want to continue his foolish and dismissive approach to dealing with peoples holding genuine concerns.......over 17million of them as it turned out.

Davis is on record that he first saw the details may presented at chequers just a few days before, the rest of the cabinet saw it at chequers. It had fook all to do with Davis or his department.

May should have been booted out there and then for that stunt.

EDIT.

So preventing the movement of unauthorised product from Uk to Ireland is simply a matter of enforcing existing regs.
Sadly, the converse has proven to be a bit of a problem...but apparently it’s ok to dump adulterated st on ussmile.

Why do you smile.

It’s all good though. The 2020 global recession or at best flat to slight negative will be blamed on brexit.

Spin?

If you really believe she insisted you are so far off the scale of reality, I can't help you.

I watched most of the press conference

I took from it a conciliatory tone with emphasis on working together going forward with emphasis on security and stability and timelines being doable

I think, though I might be wrong, that a deal will be done at the 11th hour, which may or may not throw Ireland under the bus

Ireland will not be thrown under a bus despite Varadker's pontification.

He will be out of a job soon though.

IMO

No "might" about it!

Leo will regret hitching his gob to the EU when they burn him. I suspect the non backstop WA will involve Ireland being compelled to yield.

Tell you what if BoJo pulls off an 11th hour deal I bet you he calls a snap election straight after and consigns Corbyn to where he belongs, the dustbin. 2 big wins right there.

If nothing else, many Leavers (and probably a good proportion of the electorate generally) should be fairly happy with Boris's performance as PM so far. That in itself is far better than many on PH were expecting.
