So, we're all agreed, in reality Brexit is not going to happen ?

The UK is not going to leave the EU in any shape or form, the UK parliament will not allow it.

We are tilting at windmills if we think otherwise.

Complete cock, exactly which economic text says the best way to deal with a massive financial crisis is austerity? His poor economic judgement is responsible for Brexit.
The credit crisis was 2008, the Brexit vote was 23rd June 2016 and Hammond became chancellor on 13th July 2016. How on earth is he responsible for Brexit??

Maybe he's not the one who is a complete cock. hehe
And the impacts of his austerity, which started after the crash, were a least partially responsible for the vote in 2016.

Unfortunately I think you may be correct

However, I have a vote and will continue to be a thorn in the side, hopefully, followed by 17.4M others.

The thinking man’s (or woman) Chris Grayling.

No wonder all these no-marks were singing Boris’ praises for these last few weeks. All hoping for a decent ministerial position. The more toadyism, the better. You may not think Hammond isn’t principled but compared to what’s coming and how they’ve sold their souls to get it, Hammond is the most principled guy on Earth.

I don’t think we’ll ever see a cabinet so devoid of talent as the one we are about to get.

Just you wait - once Boris has bksed everything and lost an election to Corbyn. I really can't understand how so many people can't see the direction the country is heading.

ETA: I think Hammond is probably jumping before he's pushed.

It's possible to be both.

He has a "principle." That is "keeping us in the EU at all cost." To this end he backed May in what amounts to a 3 year fraud of pretending to be implementing the referendum result. He appears to have used the treasury as the engine room of Project Fear. Which IMO makes him a cock as well.

It will happen, and I suspect on the 31st October.

Boris will agree to keep paying the going rate, knocking it off the £39bn as he goes, in return for a standstill agreement whilst a FTA is negotiated.

The EU will pretend it is a minor amendment to the WA and move on to more pressing matters like saving the Euro.

I’ve said it before that whilst a Corbyn government would be a nightmare, it would force a ‘system reset’ for both main parties.

Might be worth a few years of pain just to get a future decently lead government alongside a credible opposition? Price worth paying? Hmmmmmmm....

Is it possible for anyone, maybe even an Edmonds/mr blobby party, to lose any election to Corbyn/Mac Donald/abbot party?

Phil says he cannot work alongside a PM that would leave on "no-deal". It's therefore odd that this was the official (and oft-stated) position running up to 29th March, until Tess begged the EU for an extension, making it crystal clear we were never leaving on "no-deal" anyway at any point under Tess & Phil

As I posted in the ‘Boris inept’ thread:

Hammonds resignation is hardly surprising.

‘Spreadsheet Phil’ is well regarded as a ‘steady as she goes’ Chancellor, who carefully considers the future of the economy in great detail.

A chap like him would never want to be part of whatever utter disaster Boris is planning.

It will be a close-run thing with the current shadow cabinet.

Who will be the Tory Diane Abbott? Gender irrelevant...

I admire his principles, keep collecting the salary while doing everything in his power to subvert the democratic will of the people, then hope nobody notices his absolute hypocrisy when he has to concede that his lack of democratic integrity is going to be exposed.

It's bizarre how Brexiters hate Remainers that quit but canonise the Brexiters that flounce off.
