If you haven't established already that MM is a manipulative, ruthless narcissist who only cares about one person then you are beyond any help.
I've got no idea what she's like other than how she's portrayed in the media and I doubt that you have either,

There's a strong whiff of misogyny about the whole 'manipulative / ruthless woman' narrative though, IMO.
Exactly. Hence the "pussy-whipped" stuff.

I don't have any feelings for them , let them get on with their lives but I do hope he doesn't adopt the American accent that I can detect in the Oprah clip shown and the interview on the top of the bus with James Corden.
It is actually quite difficult to not pick up accents. If you don't want an accent from somewhere new, then you will have to make a conscious effort to 'fight it off' all the time, which takes some doing.

My cousin has lived in the US for 20 years, and has the full 'Midwest' US accent. Years ago, I went over there for 2 months to stay with her, and even after 3 or 4 weeks found myself lapsing into the accent here and there, completely unintentionally. I have no doubt that if I was there for an extended period of time I would myself slip into some form of mid-atlantic or generic US accent.

Language experts have conducted a few studies on this issue, and have concluded that someone who quickly adopts the local accent is usually more proficient with languages in general, and it is considered a useful trait in humans that they can quickly adapt their language to suit their situation or surroundings.

We may consider it undesirable to end up sounding American, but it is quite hard to avoid for some people.
I laughed out loud when I read your reply .....
I'm Scottish , from deepest lanarkshire , and have lived in County Kerry Ireland for 18 years and prior to that Hertfordshire for a further 8 +.
I can assure you you are wrong Sir .....
The key here is the poster said 'for some people', indicative of the fact that some people do, some don't..

I do think this Oprah interview will be another spectacular own goal by this couple; elderly Grandfather is ill, the world is still in the grip of a pandemic, yet they come on to moan about hard done by they are and have been!

Agreed. The amount of people who seem to know the intimate details of their life is staggering. Especially as the same people don't want to read anything about them.

IMO they both seem decent enough people, and they don't want to be part of the Royal Family soap opera any more. If I was in Harry's position I would do the same.

Hazbeen laugh

If PtG croaks, the Operah interview will come off very second rate.

Let's hope he keeps on breathing for a while.

When he gets introduced on Oprah (or whoever) as Harry Windsor - then I'll feel like he's 'left the Royal Family soap opera behind'...

What are the odds?

Harry really is the world's unluckiest hermit. Desperate for privacy and he ends-up being grilled by the world's most famous chat show host in front of an audience of hundreds of millions

I mean, what are the odds of that completely accidentally happening when it's the exact opposite of what he wants!?

If he didn't have bad luck he'd have no luck at all.

and if the interview isn't about the royal family.....

(going on national TV to talk all about it is a strange way of leaving it behind)

I suspect it'll play very differently on the other side of the Atlantic. They'll lap it up and Meg will get to act the princess.

I reckon Philip isn't even ill, this is deliberately being staged to get sympathy for this cruel family who kept Haz caged in the dungeons for so long.

They even forced him to wear Nazi uniform.

Dungeons, uniforms? All a bit Mosley

I'm repeatedly amazed at how much you all know and care about them. Where are you seeing all this info? I only know about them from this thread.

Does this not all boil down to quite a simple equation:

Grumpy Brits who like all the stuff that comes with 'being British' (Royals, pageantry, military ceremonies, bowler hats etc etc hehe ) are just bent out of shape that somebody who in their eyes typifies all that stuff, has rejected it in favour of what they would perceive as brash Americanism.

Basically, he likes America/Meghan more than he likes you and your money, and that makes you/Piers angry??

I thinks it's the 'Family' aspect. The Black Sheep/Prodigal Son/ungrateful child type blow ups are always of interest to people.

It's a Soap Opera (or with this interview more Reality TV), but unlike Eastenders and Corrie, it's unscripted.

The Haz and Megz interview may be done calmly in a scenic location, but its still the Christmas Eastenders Face Off with the parties screaming and crying like Chavs.

Why is he the black sheep? I'm not a Royal Watcher but I don't think he's done anything to be particularly ashamed of (once you've discounted the faux-outrage by the likes of the Express). And in relation to "ungrateful" - who cares? I never felt that he owed the Public anything.

I suspect being made, as kid, to walk behind your dead mum on a gun carriage, for public flag waving consumption probably pissed him off and still does.

Not like he can pack it in and get a job in Boots.

He is directly dining off being a Prince. Take that Corden interview which centred around the Fresh Prince Of Bel Air House.

But surely everyone would have their cake and eat it, if they could?

What’s the point in having a cake that you can’t eat? A spectacularly pointless turn of phrase that surely must have originated in Yorkshire??

That's an accident of birth. It's not something anybody awarded him on condition of him behaving in a certain way. And quite frankly he can dine off it as much as he wants - it is literally zero skin off my (or anybidy else's) nose. Are people jealous/resentful of the fact that he's "dining off" being a Prince? confused

Angry, I'm not angry! Disappointed. biggrin

I don't think it's anything to do with the 'being British' side of things, I think people are more put out with the apparent rank hypocrisy that appears to be playing out... AND that we don't really want Harry to get his fingers burnt. He is generally seen (or has been) as being one of the less up themselves royals, someone who was always a bit 'nice, but dim'. It would be a real shame if the relationship with Meghan breaks down and he's left picking up the pieces of his life whilst she swans off to ever greater fame and fortune in the States having used him as not much more than a stepping stone.

Hopefully it won't go that way, but it's looking like a pretty good 50/50 bet at the moment.
