With Meghans very nice bottom she should design a jeans range
She did an advert promoting some previously.
And an interesting video flipping burgers I recall, maybe a career to fall back on if things get tough

Why does her simpering over the grill cause the image of Ainsley Harriott gurning while saying "let's give the meat a good old rub" spring to mind? smile

How does a sentient being agree to appearing in something like that? Sheesh.

There'd be more dignity and more exposure in flopping your arse out at a Fort William FC match.

You are unlikely to find them on the internet, however, as techiedave wore them out (the videos, not the jeans).

I wish them well and hope they can escape the endless coverage in the Daily Mail and the like. Less pervasive in Canada I expect. Hopefully the appalling father and half sister of this unfortunate woman will sink into well-deserved obscurity and the now non-HRH people can get on with their lives a little more privately.

It could go either way. Worth a try though.

Sadly the Mail and others will hound them until their dying day. They now have no Buck House press office to restrict access on pain of removal from official tours etc... they are on their own, and the paps will be all over them 24x7.

I was sat next to a middle aged woman when the news broke earlier that they would give up HRH titles. She was almost frothing. Some of the things she said

"WHY is he giving up his titles for her"
"does he realise what he is doing"
'why is he turning his back on his family"
"she is going to get OLD" (and presumably lose her looks)

I kind of smirked when I read this thread thinking, why are people getting so wound up over this. But then again it is the internet, people just for the sake of typing and its not real life.

Which one of you was it then sat next to me?

It’s a thing though.
As multiple comments have made clear it’s a very personal decision played out in the media which strikes all sorts of resonances in the general public whether it be the concern (by a grandmother for example) for a grandson maybe cutting off his family because of his wife’s turmoil, or mates concerned about a lad putting muff before mates. There’s all sorts of individual pourings of emotion into the situation.

Generally I suspect the vibe is ‘wish you well but we think it won’t end well’. And that’s fair enough. He was public and now will be private. It would be nice to think that he and his wife will now become minor Canadian celebs engaging in that world on their own terms. It would be nice. It’s however complete bks. They will be outside the royal bubble and will be fodder, especially once Meghan gets going with her fundraising stuff, for the worst of the North American media. It will I suspect be intolerable. And I’m guessing that is the sensitivity that most of the U.K. population have. A sense of a lost opportunity, a foreboding if bad times ahead for a lad who has been in the public eye for his entire life, with all the emotional attachments that through have been vicariously invested since the death of his mother, his reprobate years followed by apparent maturity and expansion. To imagine the British public won’t invest in all that is ludicrous. They are. Sure that may be itself an indictment on the modern media and the general public but it still is a true and real emotion.
The situation is all a bit sad really.

At a glance. Without his HRH title and the royal families backing. Harry is a nobody to the elite. What can he offer to sustain Megan's lavish lifestyle? When volitile spousal arguments surface. Harry doesn't have a leg to stand on. Don't see this ending well. Hope to be proven wrong.

Not a believer in love eh? Maybe they just want a (relatively) quiet life.

One thing to bear in mind of course is that there is a lot riding on Meghan for her to stay with Harry now - if she splits she will get all sorts of backlash*
as it will be inevitable she will be blamed

  • seemingly from a lot of disgruntled people who should have better things to worry about.

I'm not sure he would...

Has there ever been anyone who's lost "HRH" then regained it?

No, he won't end up homeless - but he's just dumped a huge workload on dad and bro. Caused stress and grief for 93 year old gran. Tried to have it all, claimed a tonne via the website - and then been slapped down.
He hasn't lost it. In the actual words of the Palace statement, he will no longer use it. That's not the same thing. It's no great leap for him to start using it again, at some time in the future, if circumstances change. There is no indication that his position in the line of succession (currently number 6 I think) is affected in any way.

Harry and Meghan to lose their Royal titles and receive no public funds
Hmm neatly dodging any funds that they might receive from the Duchy of Cornwall; aka 90% of their funding.
Yes clearly some issues still to be resolved but the Crown quickly identified the issues people were most annoyed about. The refurbishment costs paid for just before they decided to opt out, and keeping the titles without the responsibility, and have dealt with those at least.

There are a few on here who seem very happy for them to be parasites on the public purse purely because one of them can play a card. Most in my view though were very unhappy with them keeping the privilege without the responsibility and duty. This seems to be being dealt with and should mean that the monarchy survives unscathed while the two of them go off to seek a new home.

Incidentally the bookies are offering 3/1 on a divorce within 5 years.

Well they are clearly still using it on their website.

Couple more details - they're not "keeping" Frogmore as they originally stated, they'll be paying rent as well as the refurb money.

Harry has also been stripped of every military title - including Commander General of the Marines he's only recently been handed from Philip.

That's gotta hurt, really bad.
Started to feel a bit sorry for him. It seems they his wife has effectively left him, cleared off to another continent with his child. Had him over a barrel somewhat. So he’s chucking it all in here to follow her.
Can’t see it ending well TBH
The backlash in the UK must have taken the precious princess by surprise ?
