PS William was talking about climate change with Dave A in Davos. Is there a thread calling him and Kate hypocrites yet?
No, he was talking to those that matter.

If he truly did want to fade out of the public eye - he could. Very easily.

However, he doesn't - in the same vein as Meghan. He wants to "change the world" using his status/position.
How could he ‘very easily’ fade out if the public eye?
Same way plenty of other European Royals have.

By simply going to lead a 'normal' life.

If choosing to stay out of the public eye, gaining injunctions/etc., against reporting their daily activities is exceptionally easy.

Buy a farm.

Live on it.

Never stand at a lectern, attend an opening or gala dinner, or issue a press release again.

Done. Paparazzi kryptonite inside a year.

There are many celebs out there that don't court the press other than doing press junkets relating to their latest film. In between that we hear nothing about them.
Harry and Meghan could easily do this. Just stay out of the limelight for a few months and they'll be left alone.
I'm not sure they're capable of that though.

He could just have a word with his Grandad

Simple announcement then never seen again at public/ceremonial events and apart from rolling Land Rover, has been largely left alone by the Press

Indeed.

Press can only report on people if there's a reasonable argument for "public interest".

There's no basis for that claim, purely because of circumstances of birth parents.

Not a bad life. One has retired, after a life of doing nothing much taxing.

I don’t imagine being a naval officer on a destroyer in the Med during WW2 was very taxing at all, especially during action at the battle of Matapan or during the invasion of Sicily

Have you ever fought for your country?

The press are t interested in his Grandad though, these two sell newspapers and have billions of eyes watching them, it’s a completely different scenario to any other Royal family and different again to the interest level within our own Royal family.

It seems most base their views on them from what is presented by journalists (unless anyone is privy to a direct experience, which I doubt) and it’s nigh on impossible to judge the reliability of what’s reported because most of the sources are unnamed. What’s not in doubt is that most of the major newspaper groups reporting on M & H are being sued by them, any reasonable person might conclude there’s a conflict of interest.

I really couldn’t care less about them, I see two people who want to distance themselves from their extended family but realise it’s not quite so simple as that. Maybe if we all showed a little less interest they would have half a chance, but as I said, I don’t really care either way I’m just intrigued by the fascination they generate here and elsewhere.

I’m left concluding yet again that the majority of NP&E and my gran are as one.

Look at Keanu Reeves as an example of a Hollywood A lister that keeps himself to himself and can ride the NY subway without anyone taking any notice or interest

And one who reportedly has given away huge amounts of his earnings

As an example

You actually think this is a valid comparison don’t you?

I think they being massively targeted in a negative way; Kate is so wonderful and Meghan is the wicked witch. The daily mail etc love it, millions read the stories, comment, and hate, just like the diana years. Don’t blame them for clearing off.

I do wonder what they are like.

Are they long-retired men in cardigans who move seamlessly between NP&E, QVC and Cash in the Atttic throughout their week?

People being interested, does not equate to valid "public interest".

The point is .. he doesn’t court publicity and just gets on with his life

Nobody cares .. nobody gives a stuff

You can, even as an ex Prince, live quietly and off grid ... if you want to

I think that’s an aspiration and you shouldn’t mention seams, they come over all nylons. They are a curious mix, the younger ones intrigue me most though (those who obviously still work), always desperate to force their credentials and insist they’re experts in their field.

Theres one who I encountered in business, some years ago, a senior manager within a midlands based SME. He used to post extended essays on here during working hours, he was so good at his job that he could spend hours on here telling us all that the British are work shy!

Of course his reactionary rants always met with approval, which only encouraged him further. Odd place and odd people but a bit of fun all the same.

My point is that this couple are and have been subjected to considerable, global press attention, beyond any other member of the Royals in recent times, though possibly not as much as Kneau Reeves or Bill Gates who have done an amazing job of keeping under the radar.

What’s your point?
