Exactly. I don't think it's remotely impolite not to have asked (although it now appears they did). We don't know the Queen's views on it. We can only guess. And I'm guessing she's delighted. And if she isn't, that's says more about her than them.
It's obvious why they've done it.

So now it's being reported that the Queen was not asked if her nickname could be used, beggers belief of the audacity if that's the case.
So what? When my sister chose my name as her son's middle name she didn't seek my permission and I was delighted and honoured.

Whatever they do there's a subset on here that literally hate them.

It's odd really.

Not a peep about Harry announcing the next Invictus Games are going to be held in Germany.

Was she hurling accusations at your father, and the wider family, though?

Plenty of division in my family, we'd make the Royals look positively functional smile

It would have to be Charles's nickname though. Does he have one? Tampon might do I suppose.

'Lifford' might have been more appropriate.

Because they like the two names and wanted to show respect to the father's mother and grandmother?

Think you miss the point - none of our opinions are the least bit relevant. You or I have no more right to influence the choice they make than they do over the names of your/ my kids.

So we aren't allowed an opinion?

Or we aren't allowed to express an opinion?

Just wanted to be clear.

Would you accept their opinion of your right to name your child?

Doesn't answer either of my questions, but ok.

They can name their child what they like, but as they are in the public eye (or not for that matter) I'm assuming most contributors to this thread opine predicated on the idea that they are allowed to opine. Whether Mr and Mrs Markle accept it or not.
