I just watched Jo Swinson give her speech at the CBI today, where she said the Lib Dems will not do a deal with Labour as speaking to the Jewish community realised just how scared they are and she can't support that.

However, I can't find anyone covering, what is, huge news.

I don't think Lib Dems, and particularly Jo Swinson, will ever equate to 'huge news'.

But she has now said that she would never help Corbyn get into Number 10.

Surely, that was his only chance?

Roughly the same in both respects as BJ and Corbyn.
yes But for some reason the thread has mostly focussed on her looks with a side serving of name calling.
In what way has Swinson achieved anywhere near what Boris has?

To suggest that is just trolling
You’re not one of those shallow types who presumes success is only measured by whether you’ve run a business or whether you’ve climbed the greasy corporate pole are you?
I think you need to come out of your 'shell'biggrin

Thought I'd look back in here as I've just spoken with one of Swinson's 'foot soldiers'.

I'm working away up here in the study and I see light flash - boing! boing!.
Rush downstairs and open door - oh gawd no! A Lib-Dum canvasser. rolleyes

'Look before you say anything, I've had lots of election stuff so...'
Dum interrupts 'That's good, and have you made a decision yet?'
I tell him that to-date I've had nothing, only their Lib-'Dem' (being courteous wink ) paraphernalia - nothing from any other party, at all.
'You seem to spend a lot of money don't you?' I asked.
We had a pointless chat for a couple mins about their bottomless pit of money, then he asked about my 'bell'.

He said he wasn't sure if it was a bell or not, and asked how does it work?'
I told him he was not alone - it's why I'd stuck that scribbled sticker 'bell' above it biggrin and because we were getting fed up with people who bang on our nice new glass panel door frontage.
I'll put a proper sign up when I get a mo.

I tell him it's Wi-Fi.
He was half my age and I could see his brain trying to fathom it all out. He said, 'oh, ok.'
I waived him good luck on his journey.

I thought to myself, do people really want to vote for these people? Dum, eh?
Never mind all that. Tell me more about the bell. I need one
It's brilliant! Chinese ...of course! Isn't everything today?
Xiaomi Mi Home - Buy direct.
Links to my i-phone so get notification on that as well as the device 'boing' in room(s) where it is plugged in. Once set up, forget it.
I have to confess it was my techie son who let us know about it. He has lots of stuff linked to his at home.
When he's at out - he controls everything back home via his mobile.
He even talks via it to the dog if nobody is at home, or play soft soothing background music if dog gets agitated by someone at the door, you can set this, set that. All the usual stuff, if you have the devices, close the curtains should you want to, etc.
He even has a device connected to it that throws out 'treats' to their dog when asked! biggrin
Can light up hallways, corridors, rooms etc. Light flashes, even play music. One device can be lead on the floor as a water leak/flood alarm, I could go on.

Find them on Chinese sites, once set up it's great.
If it goes wrong - ours stopped once, it's not that hard to put right. The voice that comes on is in Chinese, so that's about the only downside.
Auto lights up the moment you walk in room(s) where it is plugged in, so excellent for dark areas.
Highly recommend.

Bell push outside on wall. Unaffected by weather. I think the Lib-Dem canvasser thought at first it was a Trebor mint! hehe

This USA youtube vid tells you about the Xiaomi Mi Home Starter kit and how it works. I'm not recommending buyitvia this site, it's just to explain how it works.

The middle band is the light (bright!) which auto lights. Adapter behind for the 3 flat pins on device.

Why is that 'huge news'? It's been said for ages by her to be fair. She could still go back on it - her party's leaders have a bit of history in doing that biggrin

According to Peston she is being very careful with her language and while she wouldn't support Corbyn as PM, another Labour PM?, probably fine.

If labour had a more moderate/likeable/less divisive leader the labour party wouldn’t have to worry about any kind of power sharing.

The Lib Dem’s have said they will work with other leaders, just not Corbyn / Johnson. Way too toxic to be associated with either (and I suspect that in a years time both will have been replaced).

None of this is new news.

DUP have confirmed the same, but given that Corbyn's and McDonnell's IRA friends tried to murder Arlene and her father it's not exactly surprising:

Give her a sniff of being deputy PM and she’ll be taking the office to change things from within

Give her the choice of that or fade into obscurity...

What do you think she’ll pick.

Whatever the election, and however the public finances are doing, the Lib Dems always seem to be proposing to put a penny on income tax.

The more I hear JS, the more she comes across to me as a whining, petulant, child.

Ooooh the big boys won’t play with me, take them to court!

Almost expect her to stamp her foot and threaten to scream and scream until she makes herself sick.

I think she had a point on the debates. I don't like her policies but I don't like the 2 party model being any more reinforced than it is. I don't see an issue with having the top 3 national parties.

Being Scottish, does Jo Swinson want Scottish independence should the UK finally leave the EU?

Seems unfair to only have the conservatives and labour in a televised debate. Loads of people are fed up of both parties and are looking for something else. Just having the two parties reinforces the dull old polarised 2 party politics blighting the U.K.
