Be interesting to hear what the new evidence leading to these other three is.
Article said, '...concluded that there is not a realistic prospect of conviction'.

That reads to me that they don't necessarily think he's innocent, just that they can't make it stick. Or am I reading too much into that?

Sadly, no one will be convicted of murder.

Always looked doubtful.

I'm somewhat pessimistic, given the justice system is unfairly skewed to protect the defendant rights,
that anyone will serve a serious wodge of jailtime for this crime.

The case has been dropped - maybe that is a clue!

I bet you'd be clinging to every one of those rights if you were wrongly accused of something!

Is it the new thing for societies unwashed to drive and knock police officers over? This was reported in local paper

What is wrong with these people?

Unless the crime they have committed is murder or armed robbery or carrying a gun then the charge will not be “too bad”. Running for it & then using a vehicle as a weapon to injure or kill a police officer is a certainly for life in jail 30++ years.

They don’t respect the law respect police officers and I’d wager don’t consider doing jail time any real concern.

IMHO lock them up and throw away the key

I hate to be "one of them" but I really do think that society is broken, something needs to change. It's so sad that there's no respect for Authority from so many people.

I'm 40 and when I was a lad (all this was just fields) if somebody threatened to call the police on us being dicks, we would move on/ stop being dicks but people know there's firstly unlikely to be anyone turning up and secondly if they do arrive, there's probably very little they will/ can do.

I worry for my 5 year old frown

They will likely start kissing their own teeth with hoodies up and then front you out follow you home etc.
Intimidation and then they put excrement through the letter box or piss through the letter box.

“You disrespectin me” “not so billy big balls now yer on your own” “that your Mrs - we could pass her round the boys”
“Keep walking dead man”
Etc.

At the secondary school close to me - and it’s a good one too - some kid in school held the gate open to allow this thug in and he went round the class rooms looking for this other kid (he was carrying a blade..)
Another time a school girl from another secondary school came over for the fight against two girls in the early evening. Both local girls ended up in hospital one in intensive care stabbed.

So so dangerous these days - nothing seems unacceptable anymore

I know the school you’re talking of WB, my son will probably go there, my nephews do and my wife’s best friend is a senior teacher there.

Just to add some balance to the doom, our neighbour’s daughter went there, got 4 A*s at A level and has just graduated from a degree in Medicine from Oxford University. Those were very specific, occasional incidents, hardly representative of the hundreds of really nice, normal kids who go there. A few scrotes sadly make all the headlines.

I've just watched 6 coppers across 4 vehicles (plus any out of site sat in the cars) talking to a bloke who appeared to be quite calmly standing there for 2 hours, before he was aggressively bundled in to the van.

Why don't they just nick people quickly?

Because they might not have been arresting him.

Well they did after he'd got wound up about standing there for 2 hours. Is that the tactic to get someone down the station? Why 4 vehicles to have a chat with someone if no grounds for arrest?

Full details are not known in any way so guessing potential reasons is utterly fruitless

There must be a limited set of scenarios that would require a lengthy and well attended roadside interrogation. He was on an electric scooter so we can eliminate waiting for a breathalyser. Obviously I don't need a particularly accurate guess as to the crime he may have committed so we don't need to open up those endless possibilities.
