When asked for his plea to a charge of manslaughter, he said: "Pardon, was that manslaughter?" before adding: "I plead guilty, guilty."

Long denied Pc Harper's murder but admitted conspiracy to steal a quad bike.

A 17-year-old co-defendant, who cannot be identified, entered not guilty pleas to Pc Harper's manslaughter and conspiracy to steal.

The boy appeared in court by video link from Wetherby young offenders institute in a grey sweatshirt and wearing a crucifix around his neck.

Previously, another 17-year-old boy has entered not guilty pleas to manslaughter and conspiracy to steal.

A fourth defendant, Thomas King, 21, from Basingstoke, had admitted conspiracy to steal a quad bike.

The three teenagers are due to face a six-week trial at the Old Bailey from March 9, and all three are charged with murder.

That door glass break with the barrel. 10/10.
Yep. All we read in the press is about gangs and the Police losing control of the streets.

This is an impressive show of force, I'd like to buy those cops a beer.
This incident happened only last Saturday and was the end result of a car chase from Enfield to Loughton, Essex.

Beers all round - their restraint is really quite remarkable. What's worrying is that these guys will be out soon driving around the same spots...prison only seems to make them worse...vicious circle - is there an (above board) answer/solution to the problem?

It's not about whether they're decent people, it's about whether we are. By all means nail convicts to the nearest wall but establish guilt first otherwise you're no better than they are.

But guilt also needs to be tested.

Diminished responsibility, covering for someone else, grandstanding, etc.

Not the best article but this makes the point.

Diminished responsibility can be established.
Covering for someone else etc is the action of a fxukwit and is worthy of penalty in itself.
