Labour: "No one needs to be a billionaire"

'The Labour Party will on Tuesday take aim at “obscene” billionaires, pledging a radical redistribution of wealth to cut the power of the super rich who it says bankroll Prime Minister Boris Johnson in return for tax breaks.'

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-britain-electio...
How long before some worthy human rights lawyer cottons on to the politics of hate being preached against the affluent?

Thought not.

But that is, effectively, what Labour are now doing; attempting to de-humanise the rich, to make them 'other', apart from the rest of us, which has very worrying and ugly precedents of course.

So extending their argument, no-one needs to be a millionaire. Or have 100k. Property and wealth must be theft.

Let's make it all equal, except for the inner circle who will of cause be more equal than others.

Why is McDonnell talking about corporation tax, inheritance tax and Capital Gains Tax – as a billionaire exclusive?. It’s a ruse to get the rabble behind hitting everyone – particularly shareholders and the middle class.

It’s a nasty policy, the stupid think they are hitting the billionaires (whom will do one – as Sweden witnessed in recent history); and it’s the middle class whom largely pick up the tab. I’d imagine there will be quite a few shocked silk stocking socialists of Hampstead, when they realise Poppy and Rupe’s school fund goes up in a puff of smoke.

Here’s some panel analysis from Bloomberg Intelligence out this morning on FTSE 100 performance over the next 6-12 months…

It looked at effects of either a Conservative or Labour majority (using impacts on sectors, FX and exchange correlations).

Taking the last close of UK100, @ 7303 the following predictions have been made:

Tory Govt: FTSE 7750 (+6%)
Labour Govt: FTSE 5696 (-22%)

And here’s an interesting comparison:

No BREXT: FTSE 7887 (+8%)
Hard BREXIT: FTSE 6572 (-10%)

So, a Labour govt could drive down the FTSE100 double that of a Hard BREXIT – regardless of the +’ve effects of a weaker GBP on Internationals.

Most of us (not NickGnome whom saw all this coming of course) with a pension invested partly in UKX could be taking up to a 20% haircut of Net Asset Value. A Tory govt with a stable WA and assumed progress to a trade deal – only comes in slightly down on the best case no BREXIT scenario.

Now, these are purely predictions with a high level of variance. HOWEVER, they are independent – and asset managers etc are looking at these to make portfolio decisions.

Whilst a Labour win is a lowi’sh probability event (didn’t stop bookies paying out in advance on a Clinton win in 2016 though); its exceptionally high impact and damaging… To stop even an outside chance of a Labour hand on government we must shine a light through their deliberate obfuscation and lies. Why the forum apologists want to focus on Russian influence (when Labour bullst could be 20, 100 times the impact) and spanking business women, amazes me OR they are particularly financially illiterate (which is a real criticism of our education system).

Over the years, we’ve done link after link after link to Eurozone research, ECB, OECD, university paper, evidence – but a lot isn’t getting through. Let’s try it this way:

Average Lib Dem% over the weekend. 14%

Before election called 18%
After Swinson elected 19%

Looks down back of sofa for evidence of Remainer Revenge surge, hmm, not there either, there's a discarded toffee wrapper from someone, tut tut, about as much use though.

Incidentally agree with many of turbobloke's observations, and it's Twining's Assam for us, recently stocked up at almost half normal price, so Brexit or not we're set for a good while, though I've largely given up biscuits so not rosy on all fronts.

I believe the latest YouGov poll showed that the more people see and hear Jo Swinson the more they dislike her.

I haven't seen it just heard it mentioned so don't know it was focusing on parties or leaders.

Just listening to John McDonnel regarding 10% 're-distribution' of shares to workers, or 'inclusive ownership' as he's labelling it.

Or theft as most would realistically call it.

There will be Supervisory Boards to steer the direction of companies.... that'll go well...

How many international companies based in the UK do you reckon would just relocate?

Politics of a fantasist.

I’d tend to agree .. she comes across as a shouty sixth former with no depth

Her ability to do 360 degree U turns is another turn off

Her me me me attitude without actually providing any substance and just slagging BJ and Corbyn again is a turn off

Policies ?

Well I know they want to ignore and overturn the largest democratic vote ever ...one that she campaigned to have

Other than “Stopping Brexit” and promising to plant twice as many trees as the Tories

What else ?

I just dont see the point of them at all and coupled with the chance that a vote for them
“Could” put Corbyn in number 10

No chance

That's been mentioned a few times now and is possible.

Not being on the leaders debate tonight is a blow for her too, as it does emphasise that the next PM will be either Corbyn or Boris.

It is not being "redistributed to workers". The workers get a maximum dividend of £500 per annum the rest will go to the state. Given that it will highly likely replace many existing bonus schemes chances are that many workers will be the same position or even worse off.

Politics Live just reported on a dust up in Leicester East (ex. Keith Vaz), looks like Corbyn/Momentum have forced a candidate (currently an Islington councillor and strong supporter of Corbyn) onto the local Labour Party against their wishes, the local party chairman has resigned and will be voting Conservative!

Know I shouldn’t watch the TV debate tonight as it will probably just annoy me with neither answering a question properly. Hoping BJ has been practising his one liners or Corbyn just makes a huge gaff!

Corbyn is by far the best campaigner it is what he has done all his life and will no doubt pick up some points.

Boris will have to be on his game

Lovely.

This is an impulsive change of momentum.

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/mar/18/r...

Grauniad article on a different constituency said:
Ben Timberley, a trainer with Momentum, said Ward was ideal for the seat and across the country the group wanted to back the candidate best placed for victory. “Having a local candidate, not parachuting somebody in, every constituency needs that if they are going to win,” he said.
Except in Leics East.

Just caught the tail end of the news ticker, about plans to cut knife crime including swift trial for posession, without seeing who it came from, is a great idea, followed by a Labour proposal to delist companies that fail to tackle climate change.

The shocking thing is people would actually vote for the latter if those were the only 2 policies the parties stood on.

Some would ... notably the shouty types

But, don’t underestimate the silent majority.. who can clearly see through Labour
