I do not know the other posters mentioned but I am not sure in what way I have raised your ire to deserve a name check? You are talking about internet echo chamber then singling out someone who has opposing views to many on this forum. This seems the very definition of trying to create an echo chamber. I try to think about everything I post and freely admit to being an idealist which I know is not a snug fit with reality at times. I have professed satisfaction/dissatisfaction with various Tories and labour members over the years. I do have left wing views, but have no political home as none of the above deserve my support. I can only suggest if my posts have hit such a chord with you that you feel I need singled out for criticism, don't read them. I will continue to read yours, and everyone's on subjects that interest me. Only way to learn, to grow. Cheers, Gbn
Apologies, I made a rash call on frustration from others. Being left leaning, and aspiring for a fairer world is all great in my mind - but lies and obfuscation are not the way to do it - not that you were.Edited by biggbn on Monday 9th December 16:47
I'll eat some humble pie as it wasn't deserved, but would suggest that upping spend to its required levels is MUCH more difficult than suggested (although personally I would probably have adjusted our budget to favour NHS over certain other expenses).
Of course the other problem is, we voted out the EU 3 or 4 years too early. Didn't exactly do wonders for inward invest.

A long read from the New York magazine about Boris, fascinating read and balanced. Is Boris one of the only Conservatives in the West to have an answer for populism?
http://nymag.com/intelligencer/amp/2019/12/boris-j...
"What Boris is offering as an alternative is a Tory social democracy rooted in national pride and delivered with a spoonful of humor and entertainment. In some ways, his personality is part of the formula. His plummy voice and silly hair and constant jokes are deeply, even reassuringly, British even as demographic change has made Britishness seem fragile. And if you still believe in the nation-state, in liberal democracy, and have qualms about the unintended consequences of neoliberal economics, it’s about as decent a conservative political blend as is on offer in the West. It makes the GOP look deranged by contrast."

It was often stated many decades ago that the NHS needed +2-3% above inflation to keep pace with technological change and advances in medicine. i.e. we can do more now.
Taking illegal immigration out of the equation it is interesting to see that on average the UK has seen about 300,000 immigrants per annum for the last decade. The only difference recently is that it has stopped from Eu to Non Eu bias. 50k + 250k recently I understand.
My point is that your information was selective so no meaningful analysis can be made.
It may be taken at face value by some who choose not to interrogate data, but many of us have had to undertake levelling of data as part of our day job.
The levelled data will paint, quite a different picture.
Produce the data please, not what your sister or daughter pays in the US (you are falling into the anecdotal trap off the batTaking illegal immigration out of the equation it is interesting to see that on average the UK has seen about 300,000 immigrants per annum for the last decade. I lived and worked in the USA for a few years and seriously considered residency. It has changed less than I thought when I visited a few weeks ago. which confirmed to me, that my decision was correct for me.
Try here. There are plenty of other sites that show the same comparisons and figures.
We in the UK pay relatively little per head in comparison.

Boris Johnson is a disgrace. He's been caught lying again and again and then today, shown a picture and an opportunity to demonstrate a human side, he manages to single handedly avoid anything resembling a normal reaction.
No wonder he's afraid of Andrew Neil, he's been upended by a local news reporter.
I genuinely don't think Boris gives a toss about anyone but himself.

Have you actually read the article ?
Yes before they updated it, it has a very different slant from the original now and you can stand down from your moral outrage as I have seen the video as you can see from my later posts. My point still stands though any violent behaviour is to be deplored from any side of politics

I would expect that a ‘debate’ for a national referendum on the NHS will be tabled in the next parliament.
Once we are a year or two out of this current paralysis i think it (NHS referendum) will be the next boil to lance.
I will be writing to Jo Johnson’s replacement around a year from now to raise this and i would encourage others to do the same to their local MP.
