Laura Kuenssberg just reported on Politics Live that postal votes are dire for Labour, dire is her word not mine (but I hope she's correct). Does anyone get sight of the postal votes prior to the count?
Maybe it was a daydream she just had ?Did she look absolutely ecstatic when she said it ?

Some of my favourite books, Josef Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness' and Harper Lee's 'To kill a mockingbird' have racially inflamatory words and images in them but they are integral to the plot and illustrate the historic period the works are set. I do not think Johnson has the excuse of historicity but he may have the excuse of plot. If however, they are just casually used as descriptors in a narrative fashion, I cannot see why he would choose to use them. But, again, this is conjecture and as tempting as it is to play the man rather than the ball, I would rather find more out and give it some thought.
Many would refuse to distinguish between the views of the characters, the author, and reader.Of course as was joked by another poster, the only value in dissecting the character is in a English Literature class while the author is open to greater scrutiny and the reader to a lesser extent. Fortunately I have no desire to read Mein Kampf as obviously non-fiction projects the evils of the subject (and in an autobiographical context, the evils of the author) more directly on to the reader. I gave up reading Maggie's on the train and not just because it was quite a cumbersome hardback.
It's not just in the context either as offence is the prerogative of the victim and with objectivity out of the window you can choose your own villains too. The many people who have been demonised or sacked or no-platformed for simply referencing the bad thing/ word is often defensive PR, but is just as often political.

Because of the current mayor or because a lot of immigrants don't want to be here post brexit ?
According to the statistics those who left were British born (race data was not collected) but indicating at least it was an exodus of native Brits not migrants (that being said, I'm a migrant and I left London last year as well because its become intolerable)How have you found where you moved to in comparison .

Intolerable as in people's attitudes to you or financially ?

A mix of both. I'm White and have been the subject of more than a few race-based altercations in Bermondsey and Finchley. How have you found where you moved to in comparison .
Then there are the factors around crime concerns, congestion, etc. Cost is also a big factor.
I moved to Kent instead and I have found it a welcome change. Both me and my fiancee are much happier, both less stressed and far more content with the general state of life.
As a helpful trade off, my mortgage is now less per month than my rent was.
As an unhelpful trade off, my commute has gotten longer and more expensive.

Has anybody changed their mind since Parliament was dissolved? If so, why?
YesI now find it harder to decide which elfin like plain jane androgynous female Labour MP is best suited to appear in my more depraved fantasies.
I have always thought Shami Chakrabarti to be the best one but she seems to be growing her hair more.
Whilst I have not seen much of her but I am strongly leaning towards Yvette Cooper. She just has the look of a chambermaid from Upstairs Downstairs about her. She is also developing that cross between Glenda Jackson and Emma Thompson look that ageing women have.
It is still a close thing but I do feel that the West Yorkshire member may be the one for my own

I hadn’t made up my mind then and still don’t know who I’m going to Vote for, for the first time though I’m considering voting tactically Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
