Talk of my home seat turning blue in Doncaster, if that happens I'll be gobsmacked, genuinely shocking performance from Labour if true.

Yep, as much as some will be cock a hope with a big win, not having a credible opposition is not good IMO
True enough, but unless they were seriously confronted (and possibly even if...) Labour's core leadership were not about to change. They have failed utterly to offer a credible opposition.

Why are the northern constituencies always the first results??
They rope in a load of students to run round like headless chickens. It seems to matter a lot to them.

as devastating Brexit party has been on labour you have to wonder how many of those would've gone to conservatives

this could've been a different result if brexit party didnt stand
I doubt it, it would have been a far easier switch from labour to Brexit party than to Tory. I am surprised how much of the labour vote Brexit party are taking however, and taking pretty much just the labour vote. it highlights the shocking brexit policy by labour i think. the switch from a leave to a remain party was a very very bad choice.
As I said, I think a lot of people would have held their nose and voted conservatives over labour to get brexit done, then returned next election if the brexit party didn’t exist, labours stance was too wishy washy for the common working class brexit voter. I say that as a person who lives in a very safe north eastern labour seat.

Brexit party stole seats from a Tory win.
Or not. The BP vote is almost exactly the same as the Labour fall, suggesting that they have taken voted from Labour. It can't be assumed that they would have all voted Tory if there was no BP.
I know Julie and that area's particular politics very well. BXP or no, she would have been re-elected. As already picked up on above, Bishop Aukland, Darlington (ex Alan Milburn) and Sedgefield ( ex Blair) will go Tory which is a staggering result for the Tories.

He wasn’t supposed to get this big a win.

I was at the WSJ offices at 1700/2200and they were genuinely taken aback by the size of the predicted majority.

It’s quite the result of it comes to pass
Seems too early to call the election, and even if the Cons get even close to the exit poll gains - it's unlikely to last (50% chance of a rate cut in 2020).

You probably should've got access to helicopters spreadsheet or secret data sets.

Labour candidate (for Stoke on Trent), says he'll loose and now really sticking it to the leadership. Calling for Corbyn and McDonnell to go. Holy penis.

^^ This, in spades. I was wildly out with my 2017 prediction, I assumed the collapse in UKIP would benefit the tories. It didn't. UKIP was made up of tory voters, labour voters, libs, greens, plaids, SNP. It wasn't party political.

Brexit party voters will be from all the main parties. However, conservative brexiters will feel able to vote for conservative, but who do you vote for if you're a labour or lib dem leaver, and can't possibly vote tory?

Brexit party skims votes from other parties, not necessarily the tories.

I am always wary, of huge majorities, as they can make parties complacent. With no Brexit party, next time around, and no need to horse trade about the boundary commission report, I think there is little chance of anyone, other than the conservatives, winning next time.

Solidly blaming the 'metropolitan elite' in the Labour party for loosing voters in their heartland.

The EU needs us, the longer we stay in the more money they get. Still vested interests in keeping us in or prolonging the whole thing.
