I think you're missing the point, it was never about seats unless Brexit wasn't delivered. It now is going to be, however the pressure needed to be applied - Good job Nige smile
What actually changed as a result of TBP candidates standing in the GE? What is now “happening” which WOULDN’T have happened except for the TBP?

Nigel Farage sacks Brexit Party staff after general election disaster.
Given that they failed to make any impact on the GE, and given that Boris looks set on accelerating the Brexit process, there seems even less reason now for the Brexit Party to exit, so it seems reasonable to shut up shop.

I wonder where all the money will go..... scratchchin
It will go into the next fund that Farage will use to bash the Tories with when whatever deal they get isn’t brexity enough and he comes back with the message “the will of the people(tm) has been abused” where a new round of funding for his company will start and the usual gullible fools will part with their cash to start a new brexit isn’t brexity enough party. The deal is terrible etc etc.

I think that's part and parcel of it though. At least the poster you referred to earlier, which was meant to be a big shock horror racist Farage Brexit is evil show stopper and it turns out that most people don't have a problem with it.

As per our discussion on the BBC thread it's the faux outraged political class who IMO have stirred up massive division and resentment by labelling everything and everyone who disagrees with them racist, and it is they who should be weeded out.
It depends whether you think there are actions that should disqualify you from that kind of thing.

I think there are.

Either way I notice he's got nothing for his troubles this morning which is a good thing.

Its from the 1984 thing isn't it ?

You were inspired to use it as you loved the work of Rick Wakeman and admired the stage clothes he wore when on stage with the rock band Yes.
Who wouldn't those shiny robes were worn with great style and gusto
You were lent a cassette tape of Rick's 1984 album by your mate Alphanso.
You felt that should you ever in the future join a forum you would find a way to pay homage to Ricks wonderful work. You did this by choosing to name yourself after of one of the main characters from the original work that Rick Wakeman was inspired by.
It was close run thing between Citizen Smith and calling yourself Tormato but Smithy won out

I don't think he's particularly liked, even by other "Leave" supporters. It was telling that he was marginalised by the "Vote Leave" campaign, unlike people such as Douglas Carswell and Daniel Hannan.

Blyth Valley probably wouldn't have gone Tory had even half of those 3,400 BP voters had voted Labour.

Assuming that their main objective was Brexit - if TBP hadn't existed their choice would have been between the Tories (who were clearly committed to Brexit), and Labour (who were clearly committed to god knows what). That being the case I doubt they would have voted Labour. they would probably just have abstained.

Possibly. Some people don't like to abstain. Some people, especially in Blyth would never vote Tory. Some habaitual Labour voters might have seen it as a respectable alternative to Labour that did not expressly approve Johnson.

Besides which TBPs real triumph came earlier when the Conservatives finally saw the writing on the wall and decided to get Brexit done, to borrow phrase.

A disaster would have been taking votes from the Tories in marginal seats leading to a hung parliament. That didn't happen at all.

This exactly. In my area Islwyn labour held their seat despite the area voting leave by a huge margin and the same in the other valley seats. It will take another 10+ years for that to even change but something that was interesting that labour lost 14% of the vote share while tories gained 2% which they have been doing since 2010. Guess which party gained that 14% loss of the labour vote yes that's right the Brexit party.
There were still loads of people that will continue to vote labour even with voting to leave the eu because thatcher and the coal mines. Apart from one seat in north wales all of labours welsh mps are south wales valley area if labour starts losing that that is well and truly game over for them.

As for Brexit party job done and everyone will go back to normal politics wise tories now need to start picking up the Brexit party votes, if boris does prove successful and the country grows this area could well be the next battle ground area. time will tell.

The south Wales valley area is quite small, There are more Labour MP's outside that area than in. There are two north Wales seats.

Two classic characters here - Sarah from Chesire and Metro elite Claire from London.

https://www.lbc.co.uk/radio/presenters/matt-stadle...

It is like a replay of poster debates here.

The host is on the right track when he asks “what is it you are not allowed to say?” but ultimately lets her off. What is interesting is the way Nigel has managed to convince people his rancid rhetoric is not racist. What she wants to say is she doesn’t want to let “them” in, but she seems to genuinely not see this as racist.

Claire nails her in the end of course.
