all it takes are a few determined people to drive slowly up and down the motorway network.
They already do that. Some manage to do it in the opposite direction to the traffic flow too.

Two theories.

He is so pissed off with momentum he can't be arsed.

or

Labour is going to get a drubbin, Jesus Christ will be thrown out with the bathwater and Tom Watson (who I, as a non labour supporter, actually rate) is placed to make a come back.

He's one of a few politicians that seems to talk sense, even though I don't always agree with his political views.

I hope he'll be back in future.

Wow! Possibly the most sensible and intelligent person Labour have, I always suspected he would be the next leader, in which case they would have become a viable opposition.

In his constituency, West Brom East, 68% voted Leave at the brexit referendum. I’m sure that played a part in this decision too. Whilst his seat has been held by labour since the 1970s his majority wasn’t a huge one (~8k).

I wonder if he is positioning himself to create New New Labour, leaving the momentum lot to burn in their own bonfire?

If he persuaded Chuka to leave the Jo Swindle party and join him, in the next few days they could both stand as the "New NHS Labour Party" or something, they'd both likely win their respective seats (or any other that they chose to stand in), get to keep a two-seat toe in the door in Westminster (and likely have one more MP than the Caroline Lucas Party), and then spend the next five years rebuilding "non-momentum labour" with tighter controls to stop them getting a hold of it again. Collecting various deserters from Momentum Labour as they go.

Could happen, stranger things have ...

Good riddance
Sorry but unlike others I don't share the "Tom is moderate and likeable" stance.
I think he is fking vile and a bully himself. His conduct and lack of any remorse in the great far fetched pedo witchfinder general was a disgrace.

Do the people mourning his departure really want a return to Blarism?

Don't really understand the love for him either

This was a man who had Max Mosley funding his private office and wanting to shut down a free press. Is he really the best "moderate" alternative to Corbyn?

Labour really are a shower of st.

Rebecca Lying-Bailey has just been given a 15 minute slot by the BBC to pedal their propaganda.

When asked if she’d be going after Watson’s job, she said she had no plans to, the election was the only thing she’s thinking of and after it, and I quote:

“Jeremy Corbyn will be Prime Minister and I will be Shadow Business Secretary“.

Going off like Tom then, my dear?

If that doesn't worry people then how about Diane Abbot as Home Secretary ? Of course her undermining of the Police force may just stop when she gets the job- nah it won't.

So she will join the tories if Corbyn wins? It's the only way she could be "shadow" business secretary hehe

I reckon they have something on him and he's decided to go quietly. Wonder if its to do with the rather high profile fked up investigation he was lobbying for so hard....

Unlikely.

Made himself look stupid regarding "Nick", and has done the decent thing.

Let's all imagine that for a few seconds.

Yes. I would vote for a Blair administration over either Corbyn or Johnson.

So long as there was a pledge about no invading anywhere.

And he's got a book out soon as well.
