Probably alienated a lot of people who would’ve been sympathetic to the cause but for her irrational hysterical outbursts. You don’t get support by being hostile to your target audience. Anyway she’s only a potty teenaged girl who’s been weaponised by her equally obsessed parents so wgaf about her. I don’t anymore.
Well that’s great then.
Even the greenest hippe type in my office hates her for the damage she's doing to the 'real' cause...
Does that make them gammons then

Oh, you little BRAT!

Reading through the comments, it's surprising to read that some environmentalists hate Greta.

Memo to Her Serene Highness Saint Greta of Thunberg. You - and others, including the president of Brazil - are hugely overestimating the importance and relevance of a dancing puppet who spouts platitudes and reads from a script provided by her puppeteers. You're a nine day wonder, Greta, a novelty, a flash in the pan. Today's headlines, tomorrow's fish and chip wrapper. As for the rampaging hordes of teenagers who are about to rise up and take over the world at your bidding - forget it. You belong to one of the most unmotivated, apathetic, uninvolved generations in history. If you offered them a free XBox each to join your crusade you'd hear nothing but whining complaints that it was like, last year's model and I'm so, like, this year, innit? Anyway, enjoy the free travel and the glitz and the glamour while you can because once the great unwashed get sick of hearing your voice - and they will - your puppeteers will discard you and the world will go back to the way it was before we had even heard of you. What will you do then? A high school dropout in one of the most technologically advanced (read : "demanding") economies on the planet? I don't know how generous the Swedish welfare system is, kid, but I have an idea you are going to find out.
clap

Christ! Watching that is awkward. Really, really uncomfortable.

I liked this comment -

"She's a 16 year-old version of the Duracell bunny; top up her 'sound-bite batteries', press her start button, and off she goes again. A small legal point, I hope that she has absolute proof of her accusation, as the penalties for defaming could be tough on her weekly pocket money".

On my meteorology & climate course there’s one lecturer who is cautious about climate change but not convinced it’s human related, the other’s the same but is confident in the human causation. They both warn us to ignore the extremists like Team Greta and XR.

Will please some, but not others.
I feel Trump should have won this year - never understood the criticism he gets, he would be the most worthy winner EVER. Never mind I'm sure he can have a cover made up to hang in his office.

Absolute disgrace that the HK protesters didn't win IMO. The rest of the nominees are meh.

I've said it before but I genuinely feel sorry for this girl who is clearly being manipulated in the most cynical manner by adults pushing an agenda which goes beyond faux 'concern' for the climate.

I wonder how the string of virtue seeking celebs and other opportunist hangers on will feel years down the line when she's an emotional wreck....... or even worse?

That moment at 29 seconds in the video posted above was genuinely disturbing and will surely have had at least a subliminal affect her. I'm sure this will all take a cumulative toll on her in the fullness of time - the talk about her childhood being 'stolen' is perversely ironic.

To me Greta is just another superb example of the difference between the media class/metropolitan elites and the rest of the world.

They genuinely think parading her about works and people give a st what a strange 16 year old thinks. They literally are in their own little bubble and they can't see out of it.

'Liberal-Elite'. Wealthy enough not to be bothered about or by the results of their crusade against the proletariat.

Given the past recipients of Time Person of the Year, I wouldn't necessarily this as a win for Greta anyway. She joins Jo Stalin and Richard Nixon...

I note that Abu Bakr-al-Baghdhadi was a runner up a few years back, but was beaten by Angela Merkel for her handling of the migrant crisis hehe
