Are you suggesting that a First Class ticket holder would be forced to sit on the floor in a replacement train? I find that highly doubtful.
I assume it's the same as what happens in the UK. When a train gets cancelled the next one tends to be rammed and your seat reservation doesn't apply. So yes, it's quite possible that there wasn't a seat available for her on the replacement train.
Don't think it is the same on DB or much of the rest of Europe. My experience there is that you have to have a reservation to travel on the intercity trains and without a booked seat you can't travel. I never had a DB ICE train completely cancelled on me, but I did in Spain and had to wait for a train with spare reservations on it.

Anyway we keep getting told that UK railways are awful and Trains Never Get Cancelled in Germany. So I think the whole thing must be fake news conjured up by Greta and her vast luggage pile.

The bold wording of the train co's tweet suggests to me that was not the case. Plus as noted by others up thread, the photo is quite clearly staged, in a similar fashion to the Corbyn one at the bottom of the article.

The original train company tweet was very apologetic. The second tweet doesn't quite tell the whole story.

Guardian said:
DB confirmed that Greta had travelled first class between the cities of Kassel and Hamburg. Greta responded swiftly, suggesting that DB had overreacted to her tweet by inferring that she had criticised the company for running an overcrowded service.

Contrary to their claim that she had spent the entire journey in a seat in first class, Greta said in a tweet on Sunday afternoon she had only been able to sit in a seat after Göttingen, more than four hours into her journey, and for the remaining two hours, before having to change in Hamburg for a further connection towards Scandinavia.
The rail company aren't even disputing this. A triggered PR rep got angsty because their opportunity to show her scoffing chocolate for 2 hours of her 6 hour rail journey with them was crushed.

Yes. Entire normal. Welcome to Deutsche Bahn.

I don't get the adulation she's getting for being announced as Time Magazine's Person of the year. It's just a magazine throwing it out. The same mag that has given every President since WWII the title, Nixon twice. Plus Deng Xi Peng Chinese leader in charge of the Tienanmen Sq Massacre, Josef Stalin (twice) and Adolf Hitler in 1938.

Quite. Very few people seem to understand why the 'award' is given.

Person of the Year (called Man of the Year or Woman of the Year until 1999)[1] is an annual issue of the United States news magazine Time that features and profiles a person, a group, an idea, or an object that "for better or for worse... has done the most to influence the events of the year".

It seems pretty self-apparent if you know Hitler/Stalin etc have received it.

Woooooow! hehe I kinda feel sorry for her as that is awfully cringeworthy. "Maybe you should ask some questions to the others as well". Says it all doesn't it. She hasn't got a fking clue and all the evidence is right there in that short clip that she's just being used and abused by her puppet masters.

It's dreadful, huh? The people putting this poor girl through this should be hung out to dry!

Her family are vegan so I'd be surprised if they are not rescue animals...

You can actually feed a dog with vegetarian or vegan dry food. But I definitely wouldn't recommend it for cats.

It was hilarious last year. Can't remember what my fave was?
Sir Salter Scott, or was it Gritty, Gritty Bang Bang? Luke Snowalker (may the grit be with you!)
Then again, there were so many (usually north of the border because they get the white stuff in abundance!).
