God you lot are funny.

Triggered by a kid.

"But the grass".

"But solar panels".

"But she put her hand near her ear".

Every. Single. Time.

Christ hehe
Not sure who you think "you lot" are but the only people that seem to be "triggered" are the ones that keep mentioning the word triggered nuts

Get a grip, nobody really cares!
People are seriously moaning about trampled grass and I need to get a grip? confused

Triggered isn't a word I use often but 170 pages says people do care and a little too much from some of the bile on display.

I say it every single time but if it was your son or daughter on the other end of this st you'd be incandescent but somehow people do their mental gymnastics and persuade themselves that all the "funny" memes and names are acceptable.

It's fked up.
If it were my Daughter she'd be in school - end of story!

That's fine.

And if when she's not at school she chose to pursue the sort of things Greta and the others do would she be fair game then?

Happy for a bunch of blokes to call her a dwarf or a retard or have political organisations like Leave.eu taking potshots?

That's OK by you as a parent?

I can remember the first time I came home from school (infants) crying. My Mother taught me a new nursery rhyme "Sticks and stones may break your bones but............".

You’ve obviously never been bullied.

Maybe you dished it out?

As above kids kill themselves because of bullying and abuse be it in person or more and more these days via social media.

"Sticks and stones" doesn't really work when, as the internet proves, abuse doesn't end at the school gates or your front door.

I'm not sure why people protest at those making comments about Thunberg being triggered. Does this being a "discussion forum" not have any relevance here? Or is it: "You can only post what I agree with or that which does not offend me". Shirley calling out someone as being triggered is being triggered yourself? I'm not a snob, but... I'm not a racist, but... I'm not a hypocrite, but...

Quite simplistic - as you know there are the minority that are bullies, the minority that are bullies and those in the middle. None of that advocates the st that Thunberg is getting, puppet or not.

I’m on holiday at the other side of the planet.

Has she come up yet with any suggestions of what we should be doing, other than not doing stuff, and how?

Sticks and stones is a silly song as words hurt far more and cause much more damage.

However, Greta is an annoying little ste who is being exploited by a movement to use her as a mouthpiece. She has no substance when off script but in a few years will be considered a leading figure on climate change.

Politicians and anyone else are powerless to speak out or counter her purely because she’s a child and anyone that disagrees with her is already painted as old, ignorant and some how corrupt.

Should she be ridiculed? Absolutely but not to the extreme, that’s part of public life and to answer comrade bh Stewie , her parents should either take her out of the limelight or accept the darker side of fame.

For a girl who allegedly has autism, all of a sudden she’s doing a full on medical recovery.

170 pages you say, and it’s down to those nasty people being bothered too much?
I wonder how many pages of actual negative posts are in those pages. I can’t be the only one that finds that point alone laughable, I’d be fascinated to know the ratio of negative versus triggered outrage when it comes to post counts, might put an interesting slant on who’s most triggered and bothered eh?
I don’t know how many posts constitutes a page but how many have you yourself contributed to this topic and I wonder if it makes a full page?

I'd guess at a couple of dozen posts.

If someone wants to count them they're welcome.

I'm afraid I struggle with people suggesting that one minute that these are children who should be in school but are being used by shadowy puppet masters and with the next breath suggesting don't stand on a stage if you can't take it and dishing out some appalling abuse.

Happy enough for people to read the thread and form their own view on these things.

Spot on, if you’re going to be the figurehead of a global issue that causes so much debate then it’s inevitable that ridicule will happen, it’s also, sadly inevitable that very unpleasant things will be said as that’s the nature of the wonderful world of “online”.
Her parents are the only ones who can change this, but that would be an inconvenience to their campaign, some might say it’s appearing to be more important to them than their own child.
I can’t believe that anyone is genuinely surprised by her treatment, they are either too stupid to realise using a young girl as a human shield was ever going to work for long, or, more likely, it’s just another opportunity to be outraged on behalf of someone else.

If you are going to actively create a media presence and use that platform to dictate to people how they should live their lives, whilst actively chastising people for the choices they make, then you should expect to be scrutinised.

The hypocrisy of her creating an enormous carbon footprint whilst going about her business of lecturing the world to stop doing what she does is just the cherry on the top.

For her to then be using the UK, one of the most committed countries in the world at reducing CO2 emissions and with already high energy taxes as her platform, adds another level of stupid to the whole shebang.

To then be encouraging the gullible to disrupt the education of their children and those children's classmates, who will be disrupted by time wasted catching these truant kids up, should absolutely bring some serious scrutiny to the whole circus.

Thunberg and her parents are dangerous idiots, the people who will make a difference are already working successfully at ways to improve efficiency and that is only going to improve as the engineering and science develops.

Listened to Jeremy vine interviewing some of the parents and kids at this event. Mad as a box of frogs.
Most of the parents are the typical wealthy middle class virtue signallers, some parent was actually crying talking about how proud she was she'd taken her kid out of school to listen to Greta.

I've read hundreds of books on doomsday cults and they all seem to end the same way. Call me a nutcase but in a few years time Greta will be running here own we climate commune in a Swedish forest. One day they'll decide they have done all they can and will decide death is a much better option than saving the already damaged planet.
And more than 60% of those little darlings are driven to school by their climate loving parents smile, the best ones were the parents who travelled to Bristol with their kids (who they were so proud of for wanting to go) from INVERNESS just so they could see Saint Greta talk !

So the photos a fake then? Is it not real? Did they not rip all the grass up?
Whats it matter where the info came from?

They destroyed the grass and its ability to soak up the very pollutant gas they say is killing the planet. Irony parrot has just flown over their and your heads and heading back sweden way.
Calm yourself down, you’ll have a coronary.
Thank you for your concern, duly noted, however Im as tranquil as Greta after her meds.
Id be more worried about yourself being seventy... wink

I've no issue with scrutiny and I'm not saying "Believe everything Greta Thunberg says".

She gets on my nerves.

But there's a line where it crosses into abuse and perhaps people should think if it's a look they want to be associated with when it's aimed at a 16 year (albeit now 17) old kid especially in an era when there's an increased focus around the impact abuse via social media has on people.

I don't think that makes me "comrade" as George seems to think nor does it mean I'm "outraged on behalf of someone else" any more than I presumably would be if I stepped in to ask someone calling your son or daughter "dwarf" or "retard" why they were doing it and whether they think it's OK to do so.
