The video footage seems to be desperately clutching at straws. Both cars appear to be going too quickly for the conditions and it looks like the BMW was more surprised and maybe jabbed the brakes a little too hard causing it to lose a little bit of control.

The other point is it's a narrow road and just maybe the BMW was positioned over to the right to see around the bend?
Exacly.

Now I'm an English chap. And i drive English Lorries. And in that situation I'd be well on the 'wrong side' of the road - but I'd be going very slowly.

That doesn't mean I'm a dangerous nuckle dragging truck driving scummer - it means I have to do that to get my job done. Sometimes I need to use the other side to get around a corner. Either before preferably or after. Or sometimes both.

I also drive in Europe and have to do similar stuff occasionally on the 'wrong side of the road'. But difference here is that if I did kill someone I woulnd't leggit and then claim I'm too important to take responsibility.

I reckon that she cocked up big time. I'd be massively interested in her speed, road position and road situation. I have been abused for sounding my horn before in built up areas... Even had a call to the company about it. I felt it better to warn someone I was going tight totally blind. I sort of think that letting people know something big is coming around in an odd way is a good thing.

Edit - PS cars both stopped in the rain well in time. Nothing to report. I have this every single day at work. Someone is trying to make a mountain out of a molehill. Some will say you would see a big artic etc... I'd love those folks to come out with me and see how often both bikes and cars don't see over the hedges and hold back.

We still dont know the same for the biker
There's still something odd about if it was as straightforward as being implied, why didnt the police take her to the cells for a few nights.
A lot is being kept quiet on all sides

I lived near Lakenheath and Mildenhall for many years, they are huge bases with many times more Americans on them yet cases of driving on the wrong side were very rare.
I have friends who live near Lakenheath and they tell me it happens regularly.

I have for the last 19 months been living in a place where pretty much all the food is imported from the US. The food is appalling - dreadful quality, sweetened, denatured, utter rubbish. High fructose corn syrup in almost everything. I will be back in the UK soon, but sadly a lot of UK food may end up being US food, because reasons. Yuk.

I like the US, but only the civilised bits at the edges, where you can get OK food at a price. Mass market US produce is dire.

I like coastal Americans also - the best people ever, but where I live we see low rent tourists from the interior - who are the most oafish, ill educated, and crass people imaginable. Also huuuuuuuuge. The US is at least two countries. Currently the wrong version of the US is in charge and Sacoolas is unlikely to be sent to face trial.

In Ireland which is rammed with tourists in rental cars, many Americans, these signs are everywhere

They are huge, they also have it written on the road surface and all rental cars have it in the windscreen ...

“Drive on left”

Yet, where my house is on the west coast, if you venture into the tourist areas it is not unusual to meet “visitors” on “their” side of the road !

Unfortunately, every year there are serious collisions and fatalities involving tourists, usually American sadly

We all take garbage at times - but I can't see anything wrong with what you quoted....

Most US mass produced food is crap - and it makes the people that eat it fat - and the UK is headed the same way. A sweeping generalisation, but the US coastal states seem to have a very different mentality (better educated and more affluent) than the middle US - and the country votes along those broad lines. Currently the hero of the rednecks is in charge rather than a statesman like Obama

Which bit do you think is garbage ?

This has just been in the news again, dashcam catches another driver near the base driving on wrong side although it is a very narrow country lane and the bmw could of just come round the bend a bit too fast. If the driver was driving on the wrong side then the base seriously need to have a word with their staff.

Really hope one day the woman is brought back to the UK and face the consequences.
Which side of the road do they use on the base?
Not had that one in a while.

Really ???

You only have to scroll back as far as page 39 for the latest confirmation - though it has been covered many times......
Very sorry for any offence to you both
Many 'casual' PHers join a thread on the last page, they don't bother with going back to the beginning or even a few pages. Those posters who jumped in with criticism were a bit harsh on you I would say.
It was generous of you to apologise, but not necessary I feel.

Indeed, the Jobsworths of PH, unelected busybodies who live on their own with 12 cats, they will probably be apoplectic when
I say I can't be arsed to check the previous 40 pages to see if anyone else has mentioned actor Matthew Broderick , who in 1987
killed two women in Northern Ireland while driving on the wrong side of the road, he was concussed and fortunately could remember
nothing of that day let alone the accident, he was done for careless driving and got a £100 fine.

I know, un f***ing believable.

UK mass produced "crap" is no worse/better than US counterparts, eg. sausages, bridies, sausage rolls, beef burgers, Bernard Matthews turkey products Fray Bentos tinned pies products. Not sure Panda Cola or Fizzy Vimto is any better than Mountain Dew or Coca Cola. I spend a fair time in the mid-west; lots of farming communities. Most towns will have a farmers market, and people are very interested in growing their own, and in particular, so-called Heritage varieties

I am genuinely gobsmacked at that post. I actually thought you had made the bit up about the actor. Googling it now I'm shocked.
Thanks for mentioning that
Really amazed to read that's what he got

Back then, charging someone with causing death by careless driving wasn’t an option as the offence didn’t exist. So the options were charging with causing death by dangerous driving, or just a simple careless driving. There are further offences now of causing death by dangerous/careless driving while unfit through drink or drugs, again, these weren’t on the statute books back then, either.

Why "Please" drive on the left.

It's compulsory, there is no 'please' about it. Is there?

Second thought. The arrows and keep left sign don't look real. are they Photoshop jobs?
