Lorry driver Maurice Robinson (25) from Craigavon in Co Armagh, has pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey in London to the manslaughter of 39 people who were found dead in a refrigerated truck in Essex.

Robinson is one of five men due to appear in court over the deaths of 39 Vietnamese people in October.

He had already pleaded guilty to conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration and acquiring criminal property at the same court on Monday November 25. His outstanding charges include transferring criminal property and conspiracy to commit a human trafficking offence.
How are those idiots "Justice for Mo!" feeling now! laugh
Must be a miscarriage of justice, he said originally it was nothing to do with him, totally innocent your honour. On the plus side "Justice for Mo" he got justice, just not that they reckoned on smile
Loads of posts on Facebook from back when he got arrested, hilarious now you read them back how adamant folk were that he didnt do anything wrong, that's why it's always worth keeping an open mind. Something that doesn't always get well received on here....

The two brothers seem to have evaded custody so far then?

I thought Chris and Ronan Hughes were the main players - has that changed?

Impressive in some ways that they have lasted this long. It will be interesting to see where they have been hiding when they are eventually found.

I expect they will double down on their efforts to not be caught once they see the sentence that Mo will likely get, which will no doubt be massive.

I don't doubt all that for one second.

As for Mo, what do we think the punishment will be?

I’ve probably seen too much tv, but Marbella seems to be the destination of choice these days.

The two pleas will run concurrently (assisting unlawful immigration and manslaughter). He’s looking at 39 counts of manslaughter with a life sentence. Even with totality of sentencing and early guilty plea, he’s going to do a decent wedge of time. There’s other factors which could reduce it but only the legal beagles involved will know what those are. A deterrent sentence is called for given the numbers, the method uses and the sad outcome. He will need more than a yellow pages down his pants come prize giving day

Standard procedure for Irish naughty truckers.

Keep your mouth shut. Keep 10 toes down and do your time. Your family get a monthly allowance when you are inside. And on getting out they set you up nicely.

If you decide to start talking it doesn't end well.

I defended the bloke and have empathy for him at 25. Whatever his crimes he clearly must have felt awful when he opened those doors which is why he called the police.

His crimes.

Being part of an international people smuggling ring that led to the manslaughter of 39 people.

I'm sure Mo and those like him were quite happy every time another trailer got through the net, all happily counting their part of the cut depending on where they were in the food chain.

Getting involved in stuff like this at others cost, misfortune and grief, shows nothing more in my opinion than greed, stupidity and callousness.

Do the crime, do the time, hopefully a very long time.

You're right,

I think the battle is once these people make it too the top of the tree they become very hard to catch, or pin solid evidence on. With so much power, they delegate too others making sure they leave no paper trail that can be traced back too themselves by using clever tactics and the element of fear over those lower down the chain.

Clearly they were keeping the survivor of the refrigerated lorry in ice.

More likely he/she is in hiding because they know some (or full) details of the route / culprits.
