The authors say China must close 588 coal-fired power plants in a decade to meet climate pledges - but they insist the move will save cash.

So the long and the short of it is that since we can never prove what is going to happen in the future we should never make any plans to make the best of what we think is the most likely scenario?

All I know is that I've worked hard for 37 years so I can (hopefully) retire soon and that I've got food in the fridge because I'll probably want something to eat tomorrow. None of that is based on proof and science but I'm happy.

I mean FFS, we're in the midst of clear and present danger on planet earth - there's a full on climate catastrophe unfolding on your street corner. AGW climate model outputs, as used by UK and other politicians to set policy, predict that higher troposphere temperatures will enhance soil decomposition and reduce subsurface soil organic carbon (SOC) levels, currently approx 2350 Gt.

Empirical data in Dalal et al (2021) say otherwise. After modest natural warming following strong El Nino events between 1981 and 2014, SOC increased significantly (p<0.05). Yet another nail in the coffin nails as policy snafus continue.
