A serious question, even though I don't really hide which side I'm on: Can it be proved that things are going to happen before they happen?

Scottish election 2021: Greens pledge 'transformation' of economy

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-po...

The Scottish Greens have set out plans for a "green economic recovery" from the Covid-19 pandemic which they say could create more than 100,000 jobs.
In its Holyrood election manifesto, the party calls for a "fundamental transformation of our economy and society" to tackle climate change.
This would include £7.5bn of investment in public transport and renewables...........continues

The greens wave their fairy storybooks in the air.

China 'can save $1.6 trillion by scrapping coal', report says

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-567...

China can save up to $1.6 trillion (£1.2 trillion) over 20 years by switching from coal power to renewables, a report says.
The authors say China must close 588 coal-fired power plants in a decade to meet climate pledges - but they insist the move will save cash.
That's because renewables are now so much cheaper than coal....................continues

Are they reliable though?

2021 German Coal Plant “Phaseout” Lasted Only 8 Days…Put Back Online To Stabilize Shaky Grid
Due to the government mandated coal phase-out, 11 coal-fired power plants with a total capacity of 4.7 GW were shut down on January 1, 2021. But the coal phase-out ended up lasting only 8 days, after which several power plants had to be reconnected to the grid due to a prolonged low-wind period.....continues

So the long and the short of it is that since we can never prove what is going to happen in the future we should never make any plans to make the best of what we think is the most likely scenario?

We are living the climate catastrophe now! Are you denying our lived experience?

All I know is that I've worked hard for 37 years so I can (hopefully) retire soon and that I've got food in the fridge because I'll probably want something to eat tomorrow. None of that is based on proof and science but I'm happy.

Didn't you get the memo? I thought the BBC and Guardian made it abundantly clear with their exaggerated and proselytising hyperbole: you simply cannot and must not have a fridge. I mean FFS, we're in the midst of clear and present danger on planet earth - there's a full on climate catastrophe unfolding on your street corner. Retire now, never ever use a car again, and don't even think about flying (sadly Stovey is out of a job but it's a price worth paying to save the planet from imminent destruction and keep the sensible people at Plane Stupid happy).

Trouble is you people simply do not realise how ridiculous and stupid/naive/gullible/duped/guileless you sound. Tant pis.

XR getting some politically incorrect advice as minds are won and people are influenced. This should inspire Boris to even greater heights with his Glasgow campaign (to keep it F2F).

AGW climate model outputs, as used by UK and other politicians to set policy, predict that higher troposphere temperatures will enhance soil decomposition and reduce subsurface soil organic carbon (SOC) levels, currently approx 2350 Gt.

Empirical data in Dalal et al (2021) say otherwise. After modest natural warming following strong El Nino events between 1981 and 2014, SOC increased significantly (p<0.05). Yet another nail in the coffin nails as policy snafus continue.

Er no. Get with the programme KP. There’s a full on climate emergency with flashing blue lights and all. The planet is boiling. On fire. Literally burning. FFS just don’t breathe out lest you destroy Gaia.
