Tuna claims not to be a Johnson loyalist, but is prepared it seems , to die in a ditch for Johnson in respect of that letter. Nope, not a loyalist at all!

One of the many rubbishy effects of Brexit so far, BTW, is that it has sucked many of the best civil servants, including government lawyers, into the Impossible Mission Machine, so that other departments are left short of talent. The Government's legal department is many things, but incompetent at the level of acting for the Prime Minister is not one of those things.

Don't worry about that ditch, I'd expect it to be used next week when Corbyn & McDonnell hurl themselves into it - it will have its chance yet!

Will he? I'm not so sure, although McDonald stated they would both go if indeed they lost, Corbyn seems less likely to go with his level of support.

I am not sure that Corbyn will go. His benighted followers think that he won in 2017 - they really do. Corbynism is a cult, not the same as but similar to Faragism, Johnsonism, Trumpism, and so on. Populists gonna populist.

He'll be on his bike, I think. He's had 2 goes at getting elected and will have failed both times.

More interesting will be to see how long it takes the Tories to get the knives into Boris' back. It's only a matter of time that he's in trouble and there'll be a queue of people willing to push him off the cliff.

Then, in 5 years at most, the Tories will be kicked out.

Boris will win this election as he's the best option to end the brexit process. After that, he's got no chance.

McClusky would make sure he was stabbed in the back.

It's an interesting dynamic; Momentum have a lot of control over who gets support for leader, yet the unions have the purse strings. This will eventually lead to conflict between the two and I wouldn't be surprised if the unions win out.

Unions are so far out of touch with reality, some of the things I get sent from the RMT is absurd.

I've said he'll go on the thirteenth in the predictions thread. I'm pretty confident that'll be the end of the line for him.

Are we doing all attacks in the third person now, or does Breadvan only do that with his favourites? hehe

I couldn't give a stuff about Johnson, just noting the tactics being used to fight this election. As I said earlier, the two parties who promised they'd bring fresh approaches to politics have utterly embarrassed themselves, and we're left with dumb and dumber as our choice and their foot soldiers running around repeating lazy attacks that don't make any sense if you spend a moment thinking about them.

Wait. What? There was talent in the civil service?

A 5pm message that is contradicted immediately the next morning is not a useful lie is it? Miller could neither act nor react to it in any meaningful way, so not only did it serve no purpose, it gave her additional ammunition against the government. That pretty much fits any definition of incompetence. I'm sure you oh so desperately want to lay it at Johnson's feet, but you have no insight here, no magic information. I'm quite happy to believe Johnson is incompetent, but deeply cynical about anyone who claims to 'know' the exact circumstances of such a messy piece of communication.

So all I'm left with is you and 'stewie (and Miller) clutching at straws, which just makes you less credible when you bring up stuff that absolutely is verifiable evidence of lies.

Corbyn is convenient for the rest of the party - if he bombs at the election, he will probably resign on health grounds, which saves faces all round and paves the way for a 'young Turk' to carry forth the flame.

One interesting point from that graph - the incumbent party has only one trajectory whilst they are in power - downwards.
