I don't have a clue what the poor child's situation was which is exactly why I'm not making assumptions or calling the parents decision making into question.
Does seem highly suspicious that this comes out just before an election.

Can we have another photo of Corbyn sitting on a train floor too?
Does this photo of Jeremy Corbyn change how Boris Johnson reacted when shown a photo of a sick child? confused

"What
@jeremycorbyn
isn’t telling you is that under labour this Leeds hospital with PFI borrowed £237m in 2002 paid back over 30 yrs,the amount they are paying back is £1.016bn!The annual interest is crippling them. Labours legacy"

Very surprised that this "sick kid dumped on floor" story is still running this morning, and conservative central office haven't managed to expose it as the blatant fake news it is.

I suppose part of the problem is that it actually suits the hospital management to let the public think the photo was real and not staged by the parents because they think it will get them more money to let it keep rolling. Hence them not really making a proper truthful statement about it either.

Perhaps it isn’t fake news?

When the MSM are willing to promulgate fake news due to their lazy, unprofessional approach of trying to be ‘first’ and concentrate on the sensational in the chase for viewers/readers rather than real news then it is hardly surprising that they are taken for the charlies they are in this way. It doesn’t make it right but it is not surprising.

Hopefully a wake up call for Laura - not a patch on Nick Robinson - Kuenssberg.
They have been clever though (not the news, the pushers of the lies). Perhaps the ire needs to go at the political parties not people who are duped, there seems to be two stories here that have been monumentally spun by people invested in and by the torys. slight brush with a hand and the lad on the floor.

Well worth a read. How the lad on the floor was bigged up.

You Tory supporters need to get your stories straight.

Either it was Labours fault because PFI or it’s fake news. You can’t have both..

Not sure.

Still being pushed this morning on PH and by the usual suspects.

It's all about how bad Johnson reacts or doesn't to a photo on a phone.
The fact the photo on the phone came about as a stage managed event and the whole story is a faked one to support Corbyn and Labour is irrelevant, that shocking notion gives you an idea of the thinking behind the people still perpetuating the lie

I thought the statement from the hospital confirming that there wasn't a bed available (only chairs) was pretty clear - https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/people...

Why do you think the hospital apologised?

LGI bosses apologise after four-year-old boy with pneumonia forced to sleep on floor

"We are extremely sorry that there were only chairs available, and no bed".

And none of that excuses Johnson for his reaction.

Crack on with defending it though.

Maybe they've all got friends who are senior nursing sisters at the hospital

It certainly doesn't.

That statement - it's odd that the hospital made no mention of the child previously being given a bed while being given oxygen, or the BBC article from yesterday was fake news.

Looking at the way this has been spun, I expect a lot of wrong info, not deliberate though, but caught out. I hope they buck their methods.

They way this has been pushed by bots on the usual suspects by official peeps should be the story.

I’ve got to say that even as the most ardent anti Boris man I can explain this.

Everyone is obsessed with apologies. Look how many interviewers went after an apology from Corbyn. Does anyone really think that he is an anti-Semite? Probably not, but if you get him to apologise then he’s almost admitting it. The longer it went on the worse it got.

Better to get the apology in quick, then if it does turn out to be a made up story you get the moral high ground.

Pointing out that a stage managed event designed to benefit Corbyn and Labour is not in any way defending Johnson.

Even the BBC commented on the fact that the mother (who ironically was responsible for the photo!) had asked that the photo not be used for politicising the event, even though the plea was made many hours after the photo had been used.

Crack on complaining about it though, I can understand why you feel the need to do so.

Possible, or with a fast moving story and people sometimes get the facts wrong like they did the "assault" on Hancock's assistant.

I've no doubt Labour will be spinning this one like a top to try and gain from it and I'm not defending it.

There are two issue here though, the poor child, and I think the hospitals statement hopefully clears that one up, and Johnson's reaction to a story.

Whatever the Labour spin machine might be up to has no bearing on the display we saw yesterday from our Prime Minister.

How about looking at the piece you have linked it gives you all the proof you need..look at the wheels on the BED next to the boy who it is claimed in the report is in a treatment room without one... NHS beds are unusual as many have horizontal wheels to avoid damaging the walls. clearly seen in the picture of the boy on the floor...

This is nothing to do with the boy nor the NHS. To suggest it was 'stage managed to benefit Corbyn' is irrelevant. In any case it was just a journo looking for a story in all probability, and he got one. It is all about Johnson behaving poorly when under a wee bit of pressure. It's something any politician should be able to put to bed, so to speak. It was a simple enough problem, but he blew it big time.

It's a shame that the child and mother have been used for political purposes against their wishes, but it's done now and Johnson has shown himself inept at dealing with a spontaneous incident.

Is it a skill a pm should have, you know, this thinking quickly without a prepared retort? I'd say yes, but I am not, at least on PH, in a majority.

Johnson cracked.
