How can anyone seriously question that story now? THe hospital said it was true. The tories have been found to have spread false tweets that it was a set up when it wasn't, and Matt Hancock, flying to the rescue invents a story about 1 of his staff being assaulted by Labour protestors, when again, it's since been proven nothing of the sort happened.
All of that is lies and HAS to be indefensible in any democracy, surely?!
Read their statement. They really didn't say it was true. To reach that conclusion is making a step where there isn't one. All of that is lies and HAS to be indefensible in any democracy, surely?!
They didn't give a reason as to why the boy was sleeping on coats, nor why the picture was taken. All they said was that there was temporarily a shortage of beds due to an influx of more urgent cases. This was a matter of hours, not days or weeks.
Mum of the boy has said he chose to sleep on the coats as he found them more comfy than sitting on the chairs.
This particular storm really has been blown out of its teacup and unfortunately more than one political party has attempted to make gain from it.
I wonder what those on here defending Johnson would do if they were in a pub with a mate who told them that one of his kids was ill?
Steal his phone and refuse to discuss it, presumably, on the assumption that they've probably made the story up and even if it was true they should have given plenty of advance notice to allow for some remarks to be carefully scripted.

Is Boris' negotiating tactic with the EU going to be hide until it hopefully goes away?
I’m guessing dhead journos door stopping you endlessly loses its charm eventually.Bloody journos having the temerity to ask questions. How there they! No doubt Tory HQ is writing letters of complaint as we speak.
On a side note, I found this quite amusing,

My paper reported the story of the boy on a hospital floor. Then online lies took over

You seem to be making things up.... as far as I can see from the reports Matt Hancock was in a car travelling somewhere else and did not know about and had nothing to do with the claims. I am happy to be proved wrong if there is video of him 'inventing' the story...
You need video of him inventing a story that's already been debunked. Classic PH NPE...in a bed. Why is there no photo of that I wonder.
I am finding the excuses and justifications for the appalling way the Conservative PR machine reacted to this story astonishing. Do people just really just not give a st any more? Are people so fixated on 'their' team winning that they'll accept any third rate propaganda that's thrown their way?

It's not about the boy though is it. The story is of the complete mental collapse of the prime minister when asked about something not on his script. If Johnson had looked at the picture and said something like 'that looks dreadful, I don't know all the facts but will look into it', the whole thing is a non-event.
Think about it for moment - we have a Prime Minister who folds completely at the fist sign of anything outside of his carefully scripted comfort zone.
Are you concerned that a PM might only have two seconds to make a decision based on very little information, without any prior warning?Think about it for moment - we have a Prime Minister who folds completely at the fist sign of anything outside of his carefully scripted comfort zone.
How much time do you think he should have been given to consider it? A day?
His inability to swiftly switch from what he is prepared for to a fast ball is not in question, but...
Under what circumstances do you think a PM would be expected to change tack in two seconds, without any prior warning, and make a decision that cannot be changed in the next two seconds?
It isn't a reason not to vote for him as a PM. It is a reason not to vote for him as a human being.
I'll be voting for a PM, via my local candidate.
Am I getting this right? Within a few days Johnson has taken someone's phone to avoid an interview and now been spirited into a dairy refrigerator 'to be briefed' after one of his aides uttered 'oh fk' when presented with another one? Have I misread, misunderstood or misrepresented anything here? I am loving this. It is better than TV satire and I am living through it, a tangible representation of our collective consciousness manifested in a collection of cross party political comedians who are so funny you can't actually laugh. Vote none of the above. Everybody. These people, regardless of their party, think you, their EMPLOYERS, are stupid and are treating you with arrogant disdain. Vote none of the above.

As some people may still be considering voting Labour, this may be useful - offered as similarly informative electioneering.
