Well that went well.

I still believe that Boris is and will be a terrible PM. That said the result suggests I am in a small minority.
It also clearly demonstrates the clear majority want the Brexit deal. The poor performance of the Lib Dem’s leaves that in no doubt.

As much I am opposed to Borris I think on reflection this election clarifies what the majority wants and can’t be argued with. I don’t like it, but there you go.

I for one welcome our new tousle haired overload.
Even most that don’t particularly like Boris, will still be happy corbyn didn’t win? If people were voting to avoid the worst outcome, then that must have been Corbyn’s labour in most cases.

Boris’s speech today pledging huge spending increases and ending austerity, plus environmental commitments means Boris might actually turn out to be the one nation Tory he always said he was.

Going to be interesting to see how he goes now that he’s got that massive majority. We’ll finally see who the real Boris is now, I think most centrists will end up happy enough in time.

Well I've continued my sterling performance of never voting for the winning MP in any election!

I agree with much of this, but this wasn't just about brexit. He has 44% of the vote which is a very good win, but in no way a majority wanting his Brexit. The Tories have gained 1.2% compared to 2017, the LDs gained 4.2%.

What this is is a massive condemnation of the soon to be departed Labour leader and front bench.

If the opposition weren't so woeful I suspect it'd be very different.

He's still a self serving untrustworthy toad - being the least worse option doesn't change that.

I'm a Tory voter and I think most would agree with you

No - we want to be out of the EU - the deal stinks

The point many miss is that there was no other alternative, if there was a box "none of the above" there would have been a landslide.

I stated when Boris took over the Tory leadership and became our PM that I would reserve judgement.

I still hold true to that statement. Furthermore I stated he was a liberal conservative at heart. If the Conservatives follow through with the promises made then that would seem to confirm that.

Nonetheless the Conservatives still only received a minority of the vote even excluding Scotland and NI so there are >14M non Tory voters who will want to see him try and mend the rift that exists in our nation.

I think my dislike for BJ is apparent from my posts, but you really can’t argue with the results this time. It’s in no way close.
So in my opinion the people with the contrary view like me, need to get over it and do our best to help the deal succeed.
That’s not to say we shouldn’t continue to hold Boris to the closest scrutiny though.

I agree.

We need to hold him and his government to account.

At least the Labour Party may now have the opportunity to rebuild. Not sure who could lead them though.

I can’t see why anyone would want to be a politician. It’s hardly a life of Riley and it’s woefully paid.

It’s a good line and deserved a wider audience than just the four people watching

For what it’s worth, I was the only person in my office who voted to leave - many of my colleagues were ardent remainders. Yet this morning my poll revealed that everyone - bar one who went Lib Dem - voted for Boris.

It seems that when push came to shove, the threat of Corbyn pushed people over the fence towards voting for Boris, even if they weren’t fans of his or Brexit in general.

In many ways, Corbyn has proved to be the best Christmas gift Boris and the Conservatives could ever hope for!

Suck what up, you weirdo. I'm better off under Johnson than corbyn, doesn't mean i still dont think he's going to be a disaster.

I hope I'm pleasantly surprised and he turns out to be more moderate than he has been Iin the last few months, but we'll see.

It's interesting how many overall votes were cast and how many didn't vote.

Conservative 14M
Labour 10.3M
Total Votes cast 32M
Total Registered voters 47M
Registered voters who didn't vote 15M
67.25% turnout vs 68.5% in 2017

Oh, it's absolutely hilarious. If you ever run out of jokes about Trump's small hands or his orange face or Tories being right wing Nazi's then do tune in to restock.
