This includes the shooting - you’ve been warned.
Towards the end you can see a guy (assuming member of the public) holding a knife right on the edge of the handle.https://twitter.com/wolfgangert/status/12004255499...

I'm sure they were following procedure, but I'm intrigued to know why they shot him at close range when he seemed to represent no immediate threat.
Was he wearing a belt, I wonder?
in one respect i think, they shouldn't shoot to kill. But the other it is xmas season, it is hightened alert, you have a knife, that is enough to kill you. Maybe he had a bomb or not but better dead than being dead...Was he wearing a belt, I wonder?

That’s only the same as a few posts above where someone says there was no threat so why did they shoot him. Must have missed that poster on the video footage as they clearly have knowledge.RobertJohn

It certainly looks on the video that there is sudden acknowledgment of something else (threat other than knife), as people seemingly told to back off, they pull the fella off and as soon as he moves he gets the good news. Was he wearing a belt, I wonder?
Edit.. on top of that, you see police holding off at distance still covering suspect. This would also indicate worry of other threat. Otherwise they’d be doing trauma care.
What we don’t have is verbal from the suspect which may also add to decision making.
Any explosive threat on top of an active threat/incident is only going one way.

The news just said that the police after shooting the beard man backed off not offering assistance, as if there was still danger.
All the chit chat of people talking about the ins and outs of this is normal. We live in instant news now, thanks to the combination of the web, smart phones and social media. 15 years ago, only the people witnessing the incident would be discussing the events seconds after they happen, now they can be mulled over across the globe seconds later. Best to let the jibber jabber run it's course but don't assume too much or be rude about it.
