The police are saying someone’s been detained - what’s that about? Did he survive?
In some of footage where the three police are circling from the right (after the shot is fired) the guy is still moving about on the floor. it's on of the early twitter links on page 1 so he could still be alive.Thesprucegoose said:

I'm sure they were following procedure, but I'm intrigued to know why they shot him at close range when he seemed to represent no immediate threat.
Was he wearing a belt, I wonder?
in one respect i think, they shouldn't shoot to kill. But the other it is xmas season, it is hightened alert, you have a knife, that is enough to kill you. Maybe he had a bomb or not but better dead than being dead...Was he wearing a belt, I wonder?

Really ? Was he wearing a belt, I wonder?
God love armchair experts!
I'm assuming they shot him for a reason I can't see, not because I don't think they should have shot him at all.
God love keyboard warriors!

Video from a building on other side of road seems to show police standing a good distance back after the shooting, pointing guns at the bloke, and the bloke still moving a bit (?), then a random Labrador coming in and sniffing him, so it becomes more likely he had some kind of bomb?
Again, the bravery of people tackling him if they knew he had a bomb!

The decision to use lethal force is not taken lightly
You do not know what info the AFO had
The officer pulling the trigger will have to justify that it was appropriate, lawful and necessary, possibly in a court of law.
These are very highly trained, professionals.

Please refrain from posting graphic photos on here everyone. Thank you.
This is just around the corner from PH offices - helicopters still circling and police speeding past every few minutes. Worrying thing was that me and Dafydd were pretty much there about 20 minutes before it happened.
Very sad to hear about those injured
