Quite keen to modify a Honda NC750 fuel tank for larger capacity. This tank is mounted under the seat and is a weird wedge shape anyway, I’m able to supply an expanded foam mould of the area which will contain the larger tank, but am looking for a company that can effectively keep the top and bottom of my original tank (or it’s internal working parts) and produce a finished larger size, working within the confines of the mould. Are there any specialist fuel tank fabricators that can do such a thing ? I’ve attempted to attach an image of the fuel tank, essentially it wants the bottom removing, a ‘band’ of several inches of metal adding to the height, and the bottom welding back

In my expert opinion, as an avid watcher of Discovery Turbo and innumerable Instagram/YouTube videos of people making stuff, surely that just needs cutting at the seam and exactly as you say, having a 1” band of metal welding in between the two halves!? Not too difficult for a decent sheet metal worker/fabricator...

Please take account of how it gets in and out of the space where it sits. Making the tank larger may mean that it fits the space but due to the access you cant actually get it into the space. Hope that makes sense.

Hi, I’m currently away on holiday for Xmas, but when I’m back I’ll give it a good coat of looking at. I’m hoping that at the point where the fuel tank is, it’s just the two frame rails (where it attaches) and that below is a space before the plastic of the inner wheel arch ? I can’t imagine there’s anything else there, but sure, I’ll make a template for it, perhaps put a bag in the space, construct sides, front, back, and bottom, or whatever shape, and fill it with expanding foam. Done correctly, and if it works, will produce the largest shape possible which should just spot in and out.

My experience from having a custom alloy tank made 20 years ago - shop around !

I was quoted £1000+ by several places, I ended up at Rustler Racing and he did a cracking job for £200

(He's probably retired by now)
