Been looking at SUVs now 2nd one is on the way.

Torn between 2 above. Car would be for misses and we live in London so diesels are out in our budget (£10k).

Seen loads of Lexus for sale however the 3.2 Q5 is very rare, only 2 for sale on autotrader. Any reason why?

Should be able to get a nice RX450h for your budget, rather than a 400 and it's a far more modern and just as reliable car. That's probably what I'd go for. they're pretty big though. Are you sure you need such a big car in London?

Not many of those Q5s because if you were getting the V6 no one would choose the petrol back in 2009/10 (I am guessing the age you are looking at) as the diesel would use almost half the fuel and probably be nicer to drive too.

If you want an SUV to drive around presumably a lot of town driving the Lexus would make more sense. You'll struggle to keep the Audi over 20MPG whereas the Lexus will be more efficient in town, hopefully keeping you over 30...

Audi would be a nicer place to be though.

EPA fuel economy data (this is in US MPG, so add 20% for UK MPG ish)

Diesel tax in London is the killer. We are just outside the new zone that comes in to force but parents are inside only 5 miles away and that would be most of our journeys. Probably no more than 5k miles a year.

I looked at Q3 but the boots are tiny. Once you put the buggy in for 2 babies not much space left.

I am veering towards a Q5 it does feel good inside but as has been said Lexus seems to make more sense.

at 5,000 miles per year the Q5 will cost ~£450 more per year in fuel.

I don't know how much the cars in question are that you are looking at but you can use that to consider whether it really matters efficiency wise for you.

(assuming 21.6mpg Q5, 32.4mpg RX400h at £1.30/L)

I think there are only around 100 Q5's of the petrol variety with 3.0l and 3.2l engines in the UK. As has been said back in 2010/11 anyone considering a largish SUV would invariably opt for diesel (although there are a good number of 2.0l petrols out there).

I have one of the few 3.0l Q5's in the UK. Nice place to be!

get a sportage, built well, huge rear door makes kid loading super easy, tonnes of room in the back and will have loads of the 7 year warranty left

Yeah had a civic hatch back with number 1. honestly I was always against SUVs until we went on holiday with our friends. They have an X3 they leave at the airport. 2 babies 3 adults and it just worked. In and out no messing. No breaking your back. I used to be the guy swearing at SUV drivers.
Now I totally get it

Keep an eye out for the Infiniti EX, they come with a 3.7 V6 petrol but they're a rare find but worth seeking out,

The link below is to a diesel one but it's just to give you an idea of looks & space:

Being sensible I'd say stretching to the 450h would be a worthwhile exercise:

Anecdotally, I rented one of those on a rock climbing holiday in Spain and there was far less space in that than my MK1 Focus Estate which took us to the airport.
