If the taxes being considered by the Tories come to bear, they really are a departure from their traditional targets. Removing tax reliefs from pensions and special taxes for large properties is not supportive. If Corbyn had suggested it, most in here would be crying 'Commie' and crying in to their G&Ts.

Exactly.
The hypocrisy demonstrated in recent posts doesn't surprise me at all.
Hence all the deflection and whataboutisms....

No probs chaps.
Enjoy paying your Tory taxes!
Umm.

Lower taxes than Labour would have us pay?
It is a worry there are a FEW left that still think with blind instinct.

All depends on what those taxes are spent on...

Not like there haven't been a few recent governments for whom the middle have been squeezed until the pips squeak, whilst being appeased via cheap credit.

We've lost any concept of the big picture, and long term. We've become tragically inwardly looking when it comes to national priorities, arguing over things most of the rest of the world see as utter luxuries.

I get the strong impression that's not the mindset of several key people now.

Not sure it does.

We have to await the detailed proposals, but if the rumour mill is correct, then the posters above are pretty much on the money IMO.

That's outrageous behaviour.
You'd never in a million years see a Tory MP doing that sort of thing, especially whilst working.

Whataboutisum

Nothing wrong with "lounging", just don't but your feet up on seats because that just displays unhygienic behaviour and a basic instinct for the disregard for others.

Yeah, check out the shoes on the seats. That's really unhygienic.
And in those cramped conditions - what was she thinking? Surely she she give up one of those seats for the standing passengers on that ever so crowded train.

It’s because of people like her that other people like the late St Jeremy of Corblimey had to martyr themselves on the floor.

Looks like a "didn't inhale" moment. Incompetent idiots.
Is there going to be a point in the campaign from which Starmer would be entitled to use the Labour database? If so, it would make sense to develop some software beforehand designed to talk to it. Conversely, if there isn't, then you would have to ask why develop something you could never legally use?
Stuff doesn't get reported to the ICO unless it's a problem....
Nonsense - anyone can report an alleged data incident to the ICO.
Have you ever actually tried reporting anything to the ICO? If you have, have you actually managed to get them to take action?

I've delivered them a number of clear & substantial breaches, with comprehensive evidence - "oven ready breaches" if you like - and they've done absolutely nothing. I don't mean they've not ended-up dishing out fines; I mean they've (by their own written admission) simply elected not to take any investigative action whatsoever.

The ICO, from where I sit, purely a political operation, to be deployed "when convenient" but otherwise to let things slide.

All IMHO of course smile

You could suggest that they set up a special department to deal with your oven-ready breaches, but it seems as if they already have.

You pretty much confirm my point - anyone can report an alleged breach to them, but that doesn't mean they'll consider it worthy of taking action about it.

This seems to be the current WTF is wrong with Labour thread.

Anyway not going to tell PH anything many don't already know but Ashcroft has done for Labour what he did quite a while ago for the Conservatives.

Diagnosis of defeat, Labour's turn to smell the coffee

Judging by the leadership conversation seems like clothes pegs are on noses and no coffee aromas detectable.

Just reading that now and came to post about it.

Why do I feel that Labour's leadership just won't listen?

They still smell Toureg camp fires when it's their genuine Bedouin birthing blanket that's on fire.
