Even her own side think she is utterly stupid.
Apologies for the snip, but I have to agree with you on this one. I voted Tory in 2019, and generally have no regrets, but Ms Patel is.........a disappointment.
You get a feel for how intellectually nimble someone is, even via television, and she comes across as thick, pure and simple.
Hopefully after the virus crisis subsides, Boris will replace her with someone, er, a bit brighter. Shouldn't be difficult.

That’s the Labour front bench for the last 4 years you’ve just described there, utter talent vacuum. What do you think people like Prescott or Mandleson who were around the last time Labour won an election think of the utter crowd of dheads like Burgeon, Corbyn, McDonnel, Butler, long Bailey. Although the stupidest one had to be Laura Pidcock. You could not become a Tory MP if you were as thick as her.
Priti Patel?

Not just an MP but a holder of one of the great offices of state. Not even trusted by the PM to do her job in a crisis. The job that it is worth saying he gave her. She has her own thread here. Even her own side think she is utterly stupid.

But, this is pure whataboutism on my part. Maybe you can’t see there are idiots on both sides. I am acutely aware of it.
You’re not wrong, she is offensively thick and totally unsuitable. I do think you could reel off a whole list of Tory thickos. To me she is the exception that proves the rule.

Let me see if I've got this right

1. The EHRC announces an investigation into anti-semitism in the Labour party

2. Labour prepares a secret internal report on the EHRC investigation into anti-semitism in the Labour party

3. Somebody leaks the secret internal Labour party report on the EHRC investigation into anti-semitism in the Labour party

so in response

4. The Labour party sets up an investigation into the leak of the secret internal Labour party report on the EHRC investigation into anti-semitism in the Labour party

I can't see any problem here.

Aren't Labour just using the whole AS thing as a way of:

1) Exonerating Corbyn by making it look like AS was a smear from people opposed to him
2) Smearing KS as one of the centrists involved

Doesn't this make it hard for them to move on & become an effective opposition?

My take from limited knowledge I have is that there were AS problems in the party. The central function responsible for processing complaints and allegations sat on AS ones amongst others to make the problem worse in order to pile pressure on Corbyn. Corbyn didn't have sufficient support in the central function to make them do what they were supposed to.

To some degree that might exonerate Corbyn in AS, though it makes him look entirely feeble if he can't muster control of his own party's central functions.

It also makes the Party itself look like a horrible pit of aholes.

Doesn’t help exonerate him from supporting an antisemitic mural, laying a wreath on the grave of a Munich attacker, calling various antisemitic groups like Hammas his friends and relying on the defence that he is ‘enabling a dialogue’ whilst never reaching out to the Jewish side, and sharing a platform with various Antisemites and holocaust denying individuals, refusing to condemn outright antisemitism from his friends like Ken Livingston etc.

And do not forget that Starmer has TWICE told you and me to vote for this man to be the leader of this country....

Not that sure how long the anti semitism thing will run for. I said it before to a lot of people its all a bit "yea well so what"
Obviously if your Jewish then you will feel differently but It wasn't the main thing that the people I know who voted Labour before didnt last time..
The main thing was simply hoping to get Brexit done and not believing the free cash.

Oh and Ms Patel I think isnt the best cabinet minister around. She is starting to look a bit teflon coated

Yes, the Conservatives and many on here celebrated that news, and the disappearance into obscurity of Corbyn, last week!

So what is this “leaked report” all about? All I can go d is that there is one and it says labour supposedly threw the 2017 election to get JC out?

So the long and short of this is that labour themselves wouldn't even vote for labour and now they're upset that they lost elections because of this. laugh

As I understand it in the dying moments of Corbyns tenure a report was commissioned to suggest that any anti-Semitism was the fault of a few anti-Corbyn elements in the Party who didn't investigate the allegations properly in order to get rid of him. It was supposed to be added to the EHRC report but it was so bad and apparently broke so many confidentially laws that the Labour Parties own lawyers recommended it was never published. So Corbyn supporters leaked it.

So, after 9 days in office Sir Kier will launch an enquirey. To investigate a leaked paper destined for an investigation into the lack of proper investigating when investigating investigations of anti semitism in the labour party

(When someone said there was none and got a Peerage from it...)

I think he needs to resign biggrin

Has anybody ever challenged her on Shami’s sham shambles? E.g Brillo or some such? I’d love to hear her explanation as to why she didn’t find anything.

Whether or not investigations into AS were deliberately strung out (which is terrible BTW) it doesn't excuse the party from allowing an isideous issue like this to grow. I've lost count of the number of reports I have read about people being subject to AS abuse in meetings and the meeting chair (in one case it was Corbyn himself) did nothing about it. The fact that they were then really st about investigating it, doesn't really make that much difference to me. It wasn't the centre of the party (or the 'far right' as some Corbynites would say) who took over & posted antisemitic Twitter posts from various Labout MPs' and councilors' Twitter accounts. There was no media distortion in printing tweets from turds such as Shah, Livingstone, Williamson etc.
