When I was yonger (late teens 20s) I loved a spoons cheap beer and food etc. Now I am older I look at the one in my local town and say saturday 11am you see a lot of people outside smoking drinking with kids in toe. But is that because people have to smoke outside, is it because I am older now and so don't drink saturday mornings. Deregs of society no I dont think so, what people might have called working class then yes. End of day we have a culture of drinking in the UK and some people like to do it in a pub and have a limited budget. Spoons provide that product.
Sat morning drinking with kids in FOS is often before they had to the rugby or football game early afternoon.

So meet up in the bar grab a cheap meal a few beers and job done.

The snobs on here won’t see it like that though. God forbid some of us are working class and don’t earn 100k a year

"Wetherspoon's did everything it could to gain the upper hand in negotiations. At the time, pubs typically relied on breweries to deliver beer and provide dispensing equipment. Wetherspoon's established its own distribution network, bought its own taps, and forced prices down. Nathan Wall, the company’s former operations director, told me: “It was taken straight out of Walmart: We will not be beholden to our supply chain.” He added: “There’s this urban myth that Wetherspoon's sells close-dated beer. When I was at Wetherspoon's we sold 12 million pints of beer a week. The logistics of finding 12 million pints of short-dated beer is just impossible. The reason they get their prices so low is absolutely, 100 percent down to volume and having their own distribution network.”
I'd expect that an element of short date selling will be a consequence of having their own distribution network so a poor seller that comes in with a good date ends up sticking in distribution. To get the absolute best price on a product from a supplier in almost all industries the customer needs to be willing to take on stocking risk. Beer takes 2/3 weeks to brew so ordering for delivery before the brewer starts brewing would I expect see the lowest price..

Don't worry, at least you are more likely to retain your job in November smile

Realistically from the figures I’ve seen there is no chance whatsoever of paying off the Corona created debt.

Changes are inevitable in taxation but the income will barely scratch the surface.

The debt will be parcelled up and dumped.
We may as well all stay on Furlough then. cool

Was that not my point not dregs just people who have a budget that spoons provides a product for. Re kids jn toe rhe spoons I am thinking of is in a market town so my guess is sat am mum does shopping dad has a pint takes kids with him end of day spoons has a children's menu.

Like I say spoons is aimed at a market and that is that like Primark, Mcdonalds, Prada and the Ivy they are pitched at a certain market.

Edit...like PH Powefully built directors and thoes who wish they were ;-)

A huge number of small retailers are being royally screwed up here in Scotland.

No parking signs are going up in a large number of town centres in the name of social distancing. It seems it’s okay to cram cars into a superstore car park but not to park on a High Street.

You honestly couldn’t make it up but some idiots have and put it into action.

The same thing near to us. How exactly will it aid social distancing?

It's happening all over, councils have been allowed to use their common sense and have yet again proved collectively they ran out a long time ago.

Let's make it harder for people who aren't on foot...... I can only assume everyone in a council doesn't drive.

They closed our street to cars on the Friday.

All the local businesses kicked up a fuss, went to the press, had a meeting the following Tuesday and they opened the roads again by the Friday and business picked up again.

They're idiots.

If you mean Cambridge it’s been like that for years.

The negative Knock on effects of lockdown are absolutely massive. There are still some people in denial but come September time we’re likely to see millions unemployed. It’s a tragedy of epic proportions.

I fear it will be the final nail in the coffin of many provincial high streets.

I agree that we have yet to understand the full impact of this lockdown, in terms of job losses and business closures.

They're idiots.
It's a council officer's wet dream isn't it. They can impose daft rules due to "health and safety" there is nothing they get off on more than that.
