Mine stop steaming up when I'm up to about 10mph on the pushbike. If you use the trolley like a scooter I reckon that'll work about the same.

There is certainly a type of person in my town who seem to think mask = invincible. They pay no heed to any distancing at all when wearing them and seem to think it's the cure all to stop them catching the virus rather than spreading it.

If this is going to be mandatory it needs explaining in very simple words to some people that masks are not special shields.

Watching people who have masks on I see a lot of them playing/checking them a fair amount. Each time they touch that mask is it not the case that the viral load will be concentrated into that area? If they're then touching things in shops does that present a greater risk than airborne particles if they didn't have a mask on?

Anyone know?
Its not about risk elimination, it's about risk reduction.

The government isn't specifying medical grade masks to be sprayed regularly with sanitiser. This is about getting life back to normal and accepting covid will be around.
It’s about pandering to the media and especially the bbc
It's really not. Masks have shown to be very effective in other countries. Maybe the timing of making masks mandatory is pandering. But that doesn't negate the science behind it.

The mask isn't to protect them it's protect everyone else from what you might be breathing out .

Think of it as dpf rather than a air filter wink

Hell no.

We are trying to get out of a economic doom scenario. Let people get more comfortable!! If covid spikes then is the time for any simple words

The vulnerable are already fully aware, and taking the precautions. Let the non high risk groups relax ..

or suicides due to financial worries will rise.

Dip your glasses in water with washing up liquid. Leave to dry... Hope this helps.

I’ve been wearing a mask at work since I was brought back. 12hr shifts at a time with one on is hard going

Two people have told me that smearing washing up liquid on them stops it. A wee drop on a cloth and rub it around. Not tried it but apparently it's what doctors etc do.

Personally my solution is to ignore the mask police and especially the mask disciples.

I am not sure I could do that in the office. I find it difficult to pee if other people are watching.

Eh? How is wearing masks helping to get things back to normal. its EXACTLY the opposite of that.

Last week there were noises about getting back to normal, and then BOOM, this one comes at us.

Because it will give reassurance to those who are reluctant to get back to normal.

Do you actually believe that? I dont.

It will have quite the reverse effect. The message is, its dangerous, you need a mask. So those who wont wear a mask will go out less, and those who are scared to death already will still be scared, if not more so.

I simply dont see how enforcing mask wearing can possibly improve anything. Wearing masks to go about your business is the polar opposite of getting back to normal.

Just watch what happens. Footfall in shops will go backwards, more will go bankrupt and the recession will get worse.

It's really, really simple.

There is no normal until we have a vaccine for this, or you get the virus under control.

So we have two options.

Option 1 is to allow the virus to just run wild through the population. Hospitals get overrun, which affects not just people with covid, but people with cancer, anyone in need of A&E, plenty of people who need regular treatments, etc, etc. Even more people end up being off work sick. A significant number of people who get covid will survive but suffer from on-going chronic issues, placing more of a burden on the NHS long term. This is the scenario that results in over a million sick and several hundred thousands deaths. But shops get to open and some people will be able to buy some clothes and have a pint. This is the route America is going and we're just about to start down. Isn't it going well for them.

Or we follow the lead that Japan, NZ and South Korea have lead. We try to limit the number of cases until that vaccine arrives. Regions are locked down as soon as cases crop up and track and trace is in place and effective, leading to near zero cases in the country. For the majority of people, we're able to return to normal - even to the point where masks and gloves would no longer be required because there is no virus in the country. Shops can open, sports can continue, life can get back to normal.

Bracknell ice rink announced this morning that they won’t be reopening. Bit of a blow for the hockey teams based there.

Not surprising with the fixed costs plus the ridiculous energy costs needed for these facilities.
You’d be surprised at how patched together the ammonia plants are in these places. The majority of plant now is passed its useful life cycle.
I remember chatting to someone at Basingstoke who told me they’ve only ever run on the backup plant because the primary (both brought in from somewhere secondhand) broke on the first day of use.

A shame as ice sports are fantastic frown

Given the government's reputed enthusiasm for focus groups, they've presumably done the research.

In Germany where they have had mandatory masks since April there are calls to remove that restriction to help retailers.

Having to wear a mask all the time doesn't help people feel normal. In addition to which a fair amount of non-food shopping is supposed to be an "experience" and enjoyable. How enjoyable do you think it will be wearing a mask?.

Another nail in the coffin of traditional retail IMO.

Reason #267 for why online shopping is inferior.

When you buy a suit online, they don't give you the travel bag.

Yes it's cheap pastic, but its the done thing I tell you!!
