The point being that you rounded off your account of dinner with this chap with his apparent firm belief that he was going to run at the Tokyo marathon, hence giving weight to the earlier statements you claimed he made.
That, obviously, isn't going to happen.
Either he was - as an apparent medical expert - genuinely being mistakenly optimistic about it happening, or he wasn't being completely truthful with you. Either way, it puts a certain context on your other assertions about what he said, and his competency in the matter.
Not that it matters in the least, unless you're planning another "eat 'n' post" dinner in the near future.
Erm... okThat, obviously, isn't going to happen.

Observations on day whatever.
1) looks like the WHO has now wrapped in the Chinese data correction with a 20k jump
2) lab confirmed therefore appears to have been removed as a qualifier
3) Chinese infected numbers heavily up. Deaths down. Are they now getting to test non hospital people as the critical cases decline?
4) outside China numbers stable. No new countries announcing. Which given Africa sounds... odd.
Latest report here:
https://www.who.int/docs/default-source/coronaviru...
Looking at the intra China numbers it is very odd how this is now 2 months out from the cases hitting the Wuhan hospitals and the lack of serious contagion in the rest of the provinces.
Without the tinfoil theories I wonder if the Chinese extreme reaction got hold of this.

Straits Times Singapore in the last hour reported that the death toll is now 1868.

But as an apparent medical authority on all things Wuflu, he didn't think that it was likely? Or even a possibility?
If he didn't, what do the Japanese authorities know that he doesn't?
If he did, then was he being entirely candid with you?
You have totally lost me. If he didn't, what do the Japanese authorities know that he doesn't?

He booked a flight months ago for the marathon. If it was on he would be running. Its not on so he is still going to watch.
Not sure what your point is

“No significant disparities in ACE2 gene expression were found between racial groups (Asian vs Caucasian)”
But smokers may be more at risk.

Figures from the John Hopkins tracker WITHOUT Hubei Province:
Confirmed cases: 13,346
Deaths: 84
Recovered: 4,940
In comparison to yesterday, 181 less confirmed cases (reclassification?), 5 more deaths and an increase of 422 in recovered patients.
That’s a bit more like it at 1.6% albeit weighted to better healthcare on smaller groups. Confirmed cases: 13,346
Deaths: 84
Recovered: 4,940

The naive method would give 0.06% but that’s bks.

Erm... ok
Exactly. You’d better give times and dates next time in case he needs to visit to verify. Unbelievable
I guess we all have to be accountable for what we post.
Maybe like China, we could have a citizen score.
A low score will not allow you to post in high risk forums on PH ?
It’s for your own good

Really sad news - David Abel and his wife Sally on the cruise ship have tested positive.
They've been having a big push to try to get out in the last few days, wonder if he suspected? UK Gov’t finally today announce they are going to put on a flight...but maybe too late for David and Sally. Not sure if they would have to go to the Japanese hospital first or if the UK flight will take them even though they are positive, like the US flight did.
