I'm quite fond of my elderly relatives, so that snippet (which we already knew) isn't a huge comfort.
My mum is high risk, over 70, I am high risk, a compromised immune system, yet I spend my time worrying about important stuff, like why walnut whips don't have a walnut atop them nowadays..
I will be delighted if we find that your assertions that this is all a fuss about nothing turn out to be correct.

I'm not particularly worried, but nor do I have your blind faith that this is harmless.

The good Doctor and his wife remain in Japan, as they weren't allowed to board the flight, due to a positive diagnosis. His wife is at one hospital, he's at another, and appears to be shocked that he's surrounded by Japanese people.

Just in case you think he's an infectious disease expert

Middling GP, average patient reviews. Not a great communicator.
That lawyer chap is actually pretty good on twitter for those interested as to what it’s like on ship, and frequent the Dirty Takeaway thread..

They were complaining the other day that those giving them round the clock care and monitoring don’t speak English.

My heart bleeds for them.
Please tell me you're joking?

Any lingering sympathy I had for them is vanishing quicker than Wuhan's available hospital beds.

They’ve been stuck in a tiny compartment for nearly 2 weeks and meanwhile it appears that the quarantine is actually reinforcing infection. Have some empathy.

No chip on my shoulder just don’t like people who think the world owes them something. They should be bloody grateful for the care they’re getting. Not complaining
Quite right, the husband seems to be quite the attention whcensoredre.

Anyway, the cruise company or their travel insurance should be doing more to sort this out. Why should the British taxpayer be responsible for the problems with their holiday.

Christ, that's grim. There is quite a long preamble about his problems getting onto the ship, but that actually gives context to what is apparently, as you say, a complete fustercluck. Basically massive a bureaucratic arse-covering circle jerk, with zero regard to actual isolation protocols on board, and the likelihood that medical staff infected on the ship will be heading back to their hospitals without any further quarantine. Actually quite hard to believe what he's saying, but he does appear to be a genuine expert in the field with first hand experience of some fairly gob-smacking mismanagement of the situation. It would certainly explain the growth of infections on board.

I think it is likely we will see a global pandemic. If a pandemic happens, 40% to 70% of people world-wide are likely to be infected in the coming year. What proportion is asymptomatic, I can't give a good number

Yeah I'm kinda struggling to come up with any other explanation for that graph other than everything China says is BS... but open to other explanations

EDIT:

False alarm.... each layer is added to the previous and the final number is on the top for the 6 provinces.

All of the virus particles are somehow entangled at the quantum level, and we're seeing spooky infection at a distance?

Where did that chart come from?

Edited: Ahhhhh - OK. Just saw your update.
