I suspect the streets are deserted as the undead only hunt for food at night
This is Italy though, hence rather more discerning about their food. You can hear the massed shambling hordes low, guttural moaning “Cerveeeeeelli.......Cerveeeelli Friiiiiiiiitti

Just been looking on some webcams for Italy, streets are deserted very little traffic on the roads.

These are places that are normally packed at this time on a Monday morning.
"The regional governor of Veneto, Luca Zaia, said he had dealt with several natural disasters during his career, including floods and earthquakes, but "this is the absolutely worst problem that Veneto has faced" "

Pah, what does he know. Get rid of the internet, and we're golden.

It's just not feasible really, is it?

I agree it’s odd - but how many people in London actually spend any real time with travellers though? They just disperse and are probably home well before they are ill. The Italian case 0 probably went through a major hub, but only started really infecting people when he/she was home and more static.

That’s all conjecture of course.

Only thing I can see as a reasonable explanation is that tens or hundreds of thousands have it in each place already but don’t show any symptoms. Those we hear about are a small percentage who somehow have it bad.

I don’t see anything else being a good explanation. We haven’t done anything to mitigate this after all.

?? I'm on about historical problems the region has faced. I've already said it is a serious problem, but him as a governor saying sensationalist nonsense like this is not helping.

Not sure he’s that old to have personally dealt with that as governor.

Was probably following one of the nay sayers on here and concluded it’s just a Sniffle but then started following one of the doom mongers and concluded we are all gonna die.

One mans ‘sensationalist nonsense’ is another mans ‘getting people to take it seriously and pull together’

We do, but you quoted the mans statement and put data in that made no sense in relating to it... have a read back. It was a joke anyway, it's day 4 for the virus, in another week who knows.

It's quite probable the symptoms are severe and/or kills the people for whom the flu jab is targeted at. Not exclusively of course, I'm sure there will always be outliers the same with any disease.

There’s a lot of bravado on this thread as is usual on PH but I’m pretty sure that if this starts to outbreak here the same people will be demanding heads roll in government for not taking this more seriously, earlier.

It might only be a nasty cold for most people that get it, but if someone close to you dies three weeks after you bravely say ‘tis but a bad sniffle’ and infect those around you how you going to ‘tough that out’ with the family?

If this thing is as contageous as feared, surely staff at major international transport hubs (Heathrow Airport particularly) would be in the firing line for exposure. Yet no reported cases as yet. However, apparently a male who screened as virus free in Wuhan, prior to lock down, and was allowed to travel, has now developed first symptoms. It is possible he was asymptomatic for 42 days post exposure - this was from twitter though, so could certainly be untrue.

Just rang my travel insurance company and they are saying we are not covered for the virus. Oh goody.

On top of that we are waiting on a call back to see if our event on Wednesday is cancelled or not - if its cancelled I doubt we will be going, that will be an expensive decision but honestly cant see any other outcome.
