Yey.

Feeling fine this morning. Obviously not C19.
Not sure if you’re joking or not, but you need to read up more on the way this has presented in some cases.
Since you went out there without knowledge of any issue but have come back now knowing there is a problem in an area you’ve been to, you really should call 111 and seek advice. It’s the responsible thing to do imho.

Were you perhaps exaggerating then when you said you had flu yesterday evening? Unlikely to go from having flu to feeling fine over night.

They just updated the advice as I expected they would, by the way.

So if you in fact feel ill, you are advised by Public Health England to self-isolate as a minimum.

Yuck

Got flu and have returned from Italy last week (Aosta valley).

fingers crossed frown

NHS advice doesn't suggest any action and I'm pretty sure its just normal cold/flu, but you cant help think.

If it was C19, then its everywhere, been loads of places with lots of people.

Cant really see how they hope to contain it.
It might just be a matter of time until the advice is updated to include Iran and northern Italy.

Might be worth a call just to see what they say as the symptoms are almost identical to flu.

Have tended to press lift buttons and crossing ones with my knuckle for years now.

No way do I use the touch screens at MacDonalds, the rare times I go there.

Touch screens equal the death of humankind.

There's a guy sniffling and coughing next to me on the train right now. I'd be doing everything to not attract attention if I had a cold. Obviously no shame.

Pregnant woman sitting opposite too. She's taking a risk.

As I said earlier, I'm turning into Howard Hughes.

If I didn't have family to care for, I'd be seriously thinking of camping wild up in the North or West for a few months.

Blimey, what has reading this thread done to me.

No chance of control. There must be quite a few people who have it and don't know.

Call and say what? I felt a bit rough last night but now feel fine?

Call and say:

“Hello, yesterday evening at 6:40pm I felt like I had flu. I returned from Italy last week (Aosta valley).”

“This morning I am feeling better, but I thought it sensible and responsible to give you a quick call anyway.”

Don't we build immunity from exposure to nasties?

I think you have to be alive after the ‘nasty’ to see full benefit though.

I have just passed through Alicante airport this morning. There were no extra checks but someone looked to be on full-time duty sanitising the boarding pass scanners and gates.

Yes and no.

If the virus is similar to a previous one your antibodies may be able to adapt.

However with a novel virus there is no way for your antibodies to adapt and then it takes time for your body to fight it off.

IIRC.... all from Dr Johns youtube videos..

“Coronavirus: Britons returning from northern Italy told to self-isolate”

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51625733

“Britons returning from northern Italy are being told to self-isolate in the UK if they show coronavirus symptoms.

“Health Secretary Matt Hancock said those people coming back from north of Pisa are asked to stay at home for 14 days.”

“The advice also applies to anyone who recently returned from Italy's quarantined towns even if they have no symptoms, he said.”

What would you suggest should have been done? Seems as if we have had a few cases and dealt with it accordingly.

The alternative I guess is close all the schools for two weeks? But what parents are going to stay home for 14 days without leaving the house. Then the kids are back to school with the virus they have picked up from other kids in Legoland or similar.

Apparently Wuhan is going to remain on lock down until at least the middle of March.

This is the main reason I don't want to travel internationally for a while. It would be bad enough to be quarantined at home, but for it to happen in a country where one didn't know the language &/or how the health system works would, surely, be far worse.

Even being stuck in the Gritti Palace like Tom Cruise was would soon lose it's appeal https://www.standard.co.uk/insider/alist/tom-cruis... Though my guess is that he was away on his toes home PDQ.

I think you are being prudent.

Still going about your daily life but just be aware of the risks around you and trying to avoid them if reasonably possible.
